Hey one and all,

Just went this past Thursday to consult with my surgeon, Dr. Lenox Baker, at the Norfolk Heart Hospital.

What a great guy! He came highly recommended, he did my father-in-law's bypass several years ago. He actually showed my wife and me the op report for he Dad's surgery. It was on microfiche, believe it or not!

He answered our questions fully, didn't seemed rushed although he had just completed an AVR that morning and had a couple of patients waiting. Of course, we tried to be considerate of them, but did not want to leave until we had at least addressed all our major questions and concerns.

Bottom line is that they did not yet have March on their calendar so we narrowed the date down to sometime in the first two weeks of March. The scheduler is supposed to call me Monday or Tuesday with the actual date.

The process continues and I try to stay patient and just take things one step at a time, one day at a time.

Snoopy,
Glad to hear that you had the opportunity to meet your surgeon and have confidence in him! That goes a long way. Let us know when you get your actual date so that you can officially be put on the 'calendar'.

Ottawgal,

Thanks! Will do. Just talked with the office this afternoon, they expect to give me a date sometime later this week. I'm hoping for as early in March as possible.

What is your status? Are you "still in the waiting room"?

Best wishes to you!

Randy

Randy,
Glad to read that you're closing in on a surgery date. We'll get you on the calendar as soon as you get a definite answer.
By the way, the jeep in your avatar looks an awful like our daughter's!

Randy, you will feel better once the date is set. It actually settled me down a bit.
Hey, my daughter's fiance has a grey Jeep too. They love it....lots of fun in the snow and on the mountain.

Thanks Mary, I will!

I'm fairly new to the site here, so far there has been some good info and I am amazed at how much people reach out for help and support, but even more so by the numbers of folks I have seen on here that respond and offer up the support. Great site, great people!

Jeeps are great little vehicles! Since my first, there has always been a Jeep key on my keyring.

Randy

Bina,

Thanks, the unknown date is really the only thing that has me a little on edge right now. I feel pretty good about the surgeon, the surgery, the valve choice....now, just to get the date!

We love our Jeep, too! We actually no longer have the one in the avatar. Getting older (and more spoiled?!?!) we traded that one in a while back and got the four door Wrangler. Better ride, more creature comforts - not as zippy, but still lots of fun in the woods and on the beach!

Take care,
Randy
