I'm over 3 years post op from my PVR. (how time flys!) Last October, my cardio noticed a few abnormal beats during my exam. He said I may be at risk for going into A-Fib.:(
The past couple of weeks, I'd noticed the arrhythmia was getting more & more noticeable, especially in bed. Last Saturday night, it clearly was not going away on it's own. I checked into the local ER.
I was indeed in atrial flutter. My cardiologist tried to correct it with medication for 2 days, & I was put on heparin. I agreed to a TEE, 3-D modeling & ablation if needed.
It was decided to go ahead with the procedures Thursday. My cardiologist, who specializes in arrhythmias, brought in an electrophysiologist who has experience with children with my heart defect...Tetrology of Fallot. I had a excellent team on board;) They gave me a 75% chance for a successful location & correction of the "short circuit" in my wiring:rolleyes:
I'm happy to report that the procedure was a success!:D I feel MUCH better. Just kinda tired. Today, we're enjoying a weekend getaway with extended family on the Oregon Coast.
I'll be on Coumadin for awhile, just as a precaution. Hopefully, the "fix" will be permanent. Time will tell..........

George,
I'm sorry to read that you hit this bump, but it's great to read that you will probably recover fully.

Hi George!!! Sorry you had a little journey there that you didn't bargain for. :( Glad you are sounding upbeat and that the issue seems to be resolved now. Always good to have great professionals on board.

Hope you are having a good weekend at the coast. We had a few snow flurries today, but nothing amounting to much.

Be good!

Best wishes.

Marguerite

George .... sorry you had the problem but glad it is taken care of!! ... My ablation seems to have worked (3 years) ... praying yours takes care of it for a lifetime!!

George,

Very glad what you experienced turned out well. Thoughts/prayers coming your way for continued SUCCESS :).

Sorry to hear you developed arrythmia, but glad it was fairly quickly set right, and hope it continues to behave.

Enjoy the beautiful Oregon coast with your family!

First of all, thank you all for your kind thoughts!
It's been about a week since I started this thread. Time for a "Weekend Update":D
My heart continues to do well. I'm thankful for that. Unfortunately, while I was down at Seaside, Oregon last weekend, I came down with a NASTY cold:mad:
I saw my primary care Dr. yesterday for a follow up on the hospital stay. Healing from the ablation is going well. I've just got an "awesome" looking bruise down below. :) BP & pulse are good. My Coumadin level is where it needs to be.
He says I have a bacterial sinus infection, & gave me 875 mg augmentin caps, twice a day for 10 days.. "You may have a little trouble with diarrhea while taking this antibiotic".:eek::eek::eek:
Gee, just what I needed. I'm SO looking forward to getting back to normal...
