Midge, I know you are well prepared for Friday's surgery. You've thoroughly explored your options and chosen a mechanical valve and even practiced stemming your sneezing. I hope you can feel us all there with you as they wheel you into the OR. Try to have someone update us and Godspeed!

Of all the luck!

Of all the luck!

Well, I almost got my surgery a day early. It's 7:30 PM in Calif. and hospital just called and asked if I wanted to do the surgery tomorrow instead of Friday. I would have jumped at the chance but since we have our own business and have last minute instructions for employees, etc. had to turn it down. But it's probably for the best..my husband has moral support coming on Friday which he would miss tomorrow...and his well being is important too.

Saw my cardiologist today and left with a totally at ease feeling...this guy has the grace of God and the peaceful aura of Buddha. Ross will be happy that the doctor gave me an "excellent choice" for choosing mechanical valve...even at my 67 years he also thinks I would outlive a tissue valve. And he made more brownie points by telling me not to listen to most people about diet..."you dose to the diet" and with time you will find out what you need to do. I AM TOTALLY PREPARED FOR THIS AND CAN'T WAIT FOR THE IMPROVEMENTS TO HAPPEN. However, doctor did say there would be pain with the sternum...he wasn't going to tell me there would not. That's why science invented "la-la land" medicines.

Thank you, everyone, for your kind support, especially to those who prefer mechanical. What a decision to make. All the information and support on these pages is beyond measure; I even find myself reading about problems that I don't have because everyone's experiences are so interesting.

I shall be in touch, but may have to wait until I get home unless I can get my stepson to post. It's useless to try to get my better half to do it...the only time he touches a computer is when he looks at something that he asks me to look up. He can run all of his electric trains with their myriad of electronic controls but the computer is too complicated.

Thank you all, again, and I know God goes with me into that operating room and will leave a few angels around my recovery bed. Talk to you all later.
