Hi everyone ~ I'm FINALLY back!!! I've been having major computer problems (and server problems). My internet provider was a small company in our town called Modem Madness, and they closed their doors today. A nice 19 year old boy ran it, but he just couldn't make a go of it trying to compete with Windstream and Time Warner Cable's Roadrunner. So now i'm with Netsync. I think that since he knew he was closing down he hasn't been doing things right as my friend had Modem Madness also and she was having major issues getting to sites on the internet also. I still am having trouble getting a Trojan Horse out of my computer. I have AVG free virus protector. It heals it, but doesn't get rid of it...it pops up every time i start the computer. At least, thanks to Ross, i got in here, as i couldn't remember what i chose to be my password and didn't know what to do myself.

As far as my health goes, i'm about the same. I'm swelling more and having S.O.B., but my heart was skipping beats continually and that has stopped. I just have to find a diuretic which will kick the fluid out of me. Laura (my nurse) is afraid it's getting so bad that my legs will start seeping, which i've never had happen before.

I hope you have all been well. I'll get back to reading your posts tomorrow and replying. Today has been a crazy day. My aide (or former aide i should say as the agency isn't going to send her anymore) has not shown up or called in to say she's not coming for several days now. Therefore, i've had to take an aide whenever they can send one. Some days i haven't got up unitl close to noon. Today i got up at 11:30. I'm getting a new aide on Monday, who another woman on the third floor of our apartment complex has had, and she says the aide is "slow as molasses", so i'll see if she will work out. With all the people out of work, you would think they would be able to hire some decent people to be aides, but they say they can't find anyone.

Thank you for thinking of me. I'm sorry i was gone so long and i really missed all of you. It's GREAT to be back!!

See you tomorrow,

Dawn-Marie

Hi Dawn Marie, glad you are back:)
Computer probs are the absolute worst when you are no 'Ross'.

Sorry to hear about the SOB and swelling,I have these to a lesser extent
myself. Do you take lasix, or is it not effective? I have taken it and get
mixed results. It seems when fluid gathers in my ankles the only thing
that does help is lasix AND elevating my feet to atleast waist level as the
lasix takes effect. I don't know how easy it is for you to do this. But I
hope you can find something that can help.
Keep us informed and welcome back-Dina

Very glad to see you back. Sorry about your computer problems, and about the fluid problems.

Joe's legs would weep from time to time. You might want to ask your nurse about wiping down your legs with some over the counter wound foam. I used to do that for Joe when the fluid got so bad. I don't know if it helped, but it did seem to keep cellulitis at bay.

When he was in the hospital for an extended period of time, his fluid got terrible while in there. He had kidney problems and they had to take him off all diuretics for a while. I spoke with the head nurse in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit about the foam, and he thought it was a good idea. So he was doing this as well.

Dawn-Marie!!!!

Ssssooo good to see you posting again! :)

Hope the aide works out for you.....

Hi everyone ~ Thank you very much. Thank you, too, Nancy for the suggestion of the wound foam. I've never heard of it. So far my legs aren't weeping at all, but if they do, i'll call my pharmacy and ask about it. I can't take Lasix, unfortunately, as i'm very allergic to it. It makes my heart go over 230 beats per minute and turns me red as a beet. My legrests on my wheelchair don't elevate, so my legs hang down all day. I do take 2 MG of Bumex per day and 25 MG of Spirolactone. They were giving me Spirolactone/HCTZ, which really worked for years to eliminate the fluid, but it was also plummeting my potassium. My stomach cannot handle a lot of potassium without major problems, so the doctor switched me to the plain Spirolactone, which doesn't do much for me. He ordered a lot of blood work on Friday, so i'll find out early next week what he wants to do as far as increasing the diuretics and he said he may put me on a statin as there is some evidence it slows down the progression of aortic stenosis. Not sure of this though, as i read a lot of articles about this, and many of them say that it is "iffy" whether or not they help. My nurse told me there are a lot of bad side effects with statins, so she wouldn't recommend that i take them. I just know that i don't need to have any more problems.

Thank you again for such a nice welcome back. I missed all of you and hope and hope you've all been well! It's so good to be back home!!
