Knowing this crowd, I'm guessing it was a sex thread. Of course it was valve related!!:D

Thanks, Woddbutcher, for motivating me to take a walk down memory lane! I joined VR in 2004, member #868 I think, and for several years, always checked out the number of members and most members online at the bottom of the home page. At that time, there were many fewer daily posts so I had time to look at such things!:p
Today I looked at the Archives (found at the bottom of each page) to see if I could specifically pinpoint threads that were started that day. There is a noticeable shortage of Small Talk threads around that time, and actually none started on May 4!:confused:I attribute the shortage to members deleting their posts to the headline of the day--the case of the Georgia runaway bride! For reasons I won't recount here, the runaway story became a controversial issue on VR. The threads are no longer in the Archive so obviously they were removed by the original thread starters (I was one!)
A controversy always creates many many member's checking back throughout the day to see how the thread is progressing, and I think that's what occurred on that day.
I might be wrong, but someone will have to prove it if I am!:D

I think the counter was drunk on that day. Mary is #1183 and our newest member is #6244. Myself, I'm #286.

Nope, I might be #1183 according to what you have now, but I was #860+ a few the day I joined.

Let it never be said that I can't admit when I'm wrong, and I was WRONG about my member number in the previous post.
I looked back in the Archives and found the thread titled 600 members, and it was started before I joined. I kept searching, and found this thread that was started in June, 2004. I joined two months later in August, 2004, and since the thread is titled 1,000 members obviously I couldn't have been in the 800's. I have been delusional for a long time!

Here's the thread that proves I was wrong!:p:pSorry Ross for doubting your statistics!;)

I heard about some obscure or interesting web based Forums mentioned here (in the UK) on national radio stations before and clicked on them to take a look ? Maybe the site was mentioned that day in the US media ?

Ross, since I was transferred over and transferred over and transferred over from the previous variations of the site, I'm interested to know my member number. How do we find this out?

I must have been getting ready for the end of school in May, 2006, because although I remember the story of the runaway bride, I don't remember any controversy here. I was not one of the 551 I don't think.

Lisa,
You're right . . . I was off a year! The Small Talk thread started for May 4th, 2006, was by catwoman and it dealt with her nephew's graduation from college. :)
The Runaway Bride thread was a year earlier . . . obviously my brains are scrambled so I will withdraw from anymore analysis of VR statistics!;):p

Just for fun

Just for fun

I would like to know my start number. I do know that Lisa and I both have June 2001 as a start number and she was here well before I joined. Actually she was one of the Founding members.

I came on board in March 2001. Albert was recovering from strokes. His doctors (l3 in the practice) gave him different instructions for the same INR.
We needed help dealing with home monitoring.

I sure hope my number does not have any sixes or nines!!!

This thread has caused me to look way back. I am amazed at the things and situations and decisions that were facilitated because of membership here. I can say, VR.com's members probably saved him more times than one.

Yesterday is with me as I inventory memories,

Blanche
