Went to Johns Hopkins today and talked with Dr. Cameron ( Surgeon) ans Dr. Trail (Cardiologist). Got a little unexpected news. I'm not just getting my Mitral replaced. I'm also getting Aortic root and valve replacement and a Tricuspid valve repair. OH HAPPY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So you ever have that sinking feeling? My date is going to be Monday November 10th in the am. The Doc says my prognosis is excellent. Also he uses the St Jude valve. I asked about others and he said that anything I wanted was fine. He did state that biological valves would not be advisable. So now the clock has started. Since I'm going back a second time I asked if I could have a designer scar. The Doc said sure. What do you guys think? I was thinking a question mark. I'm sure I'll be on "Happy Pill"s before November 1st. I have to say that after I went through the battery of questions with the docs I did feel like a 2 ton heavy thing was lifted off of my shoulders. Thanks for all of your support and information. The doc was blown away by all of the knowledge I had under my belt.

My goodness, they really are going to get you all fixed up.

Wishing you the very best.
Please continue to check in with us so we know how you are doing.

Hang in there...... the wait really is the worst part!

Hey Geckley - glad to hear they're going to be sorting you out, but sorry it's not going to be as straight forward as originally thought.

Also got my date today, but I'm a month behind - 10th Dec. Hope you'll be there telling me what a piece of cake it all is!! :)

Good luck!

You should demand a special discount for all these jobs?! I want to wish you a smooth surgery and speedy healty recovery. I had mitral and aortic valves replaced with St. Jude Mechanical, and I wish I had done this surgery years ago if doctors allowed it then. Nowadays, I am tired during the day, but my fatigue is different than before the surgery--I take a nap in the pm, and I wake up refreshed and happy unlike before the surgery when no naps nor a long night sleep refreshed me.

So, I hope you will look forward to the better days awaiting for you after recovery. Good luck and prayers. Keep us posted.:):):)

We look forward to your pre-surgery posts telling us how happy you are.:) Lots of luck and prayers

You're getting the WORKS!
I put you on the calendar, so you're official!
Congratulations and best wishes.:)

Congratulations. You may as well have it all done while you are under and open. I hope this really helps you and lowers your pulmonary pressures as well. Try to use some of this time to make things easier on yourself after the surgery. Clear the calender as much as possible. Most of all, spend some one on one time in prayer. I'll be following your progress and watching for a very good outcome.

Congratulations in getting your date. I'm sorry they have to do so much, and my best wishes and prayers are with you for a successful surgery and an easy recovery. Dawn-Marie

Congratulations on your date. My Dad (75yo) was just admitted to Hopkins this week and needs a valve replacement. Dr. Cameron is one of his choices for surgeon. Have you met with him yet ? What are you thoughts on him ? You said he was open to any choice of valve, did you happen to discuss the on-x ? If you would email me privately I would love your thoughts on Dr. Cameron. Thanks Janet
