Hello there

I am writing to update you on Terence, my husband, who has received great support and wonderful advice from many of you on this forum. He had surgery yesterday - replacement of an aortic valve and a portion of the ascending aorta. He did really well. We had been expecting him to possibly have to be put into complete circulatory arrest. But he made it through without that and is now recovering pretty well. He is up today, with his pain well-controlled and just having a bit of a battle with nausea. But nothing out of the ordinary (for what is not an ordinary experience, thank goodness!).

We'll post again next week sometime.

Thank you for all your help and good luck with your valve-experiences.

Best
Jo (Terence's wife)

Thanks so much for taking the time to update us and please give Terence our best wishes for a complete and uneventful recovery.

Wonderful news. Tell Terence we wish him well and a bump free recovery. :) Thank you Jo for posting, you should get some rest also, you both have been through a lot.

Fantastic news and thanks for letting us know.
Get some rest Jo and tell Terence to take things one day at a time. It will all get better.
Best wishes for uneventful recovery.

Glad to hear he's doing well and moving past this trial. It's like passing final exams.

Usually the nausea is from the anesthesia. If it seems to be from the morphine, you can ask about going to fentanyl, a cousin of morphine thtat seems to have fewer side effects, less out-of-it feeling, and usually doesn't cause the dreaded "Morphine constipation."

Best wishes,

Thanks, Jo for taking the time for the update. Now, you get some rest - remember, he slept (and slept well!) while you were pacing the floor, so taka care of you, too. Best wishes for a smooth and boring recovery.

Thanks Jo. Terence has been in my thoughts, and seems to have worked his way into our collective hearts in a very short time. Do post when you can. We are all celebrating his success. Brian

Hi Jo ~ Thanks for the update. I hope he continues to do well. Take care, Dawn-Marie
