I personally enjoyed the men's swimming events :)myself, but I'm willing to cheer SuperBob and SuperChimp on in 2012.:p Maybe I can find some event to Ref . . . ;)

OOOPS...Niki I was giving you credit for having dropped a few pounds, I missed the bit about it being the same few pounds you kept finding again ...

Earline you are most welcome to come play with us too/two!

We need all the yo-yo players we can get eventually we will win this game.

Those boys SB and Cooker are doing such a marvellous job maybe both of them will be in the 2012 games!

Yes, it's like we're playing some sick and twisted game of hide and seek. I TRY not to find those stinkin' pounds, but they keep hiding out in the open... Like the Mexican restaurant I visited for diner tonight. Those pounds really do need to learn to hide better. :p

Listen up. I've been at this wt loss game for over 20 years now. Up and down 30 or 40 lbs every few years. I went to WW over and over and over and I was always successful to a point. Every time I went, I would drop for 6 or 8 months and then drift away for several more years regaining all I had lost and then some.

As I got fat again each time, the decision to return was more and more painful. It took a lot to overcome the inertia, the doubt and the fear. I mean a lot and the impetus had to come from within, not from my family crying or criticizing or wheedling, it had to be my decision.

So in 2007 I got back into it and I did very well from April to October losing 40+ lbs. I got down to 204 and then leveled off, then gained a few back over the holidays. But I did not allow myself to drift away this time. Every other time I stopped going to WW I would convince myself, "THIS ISN'T WORKING FOR ME ANY MORE."

What a load of crap! "IT" isn't working is a complete cop out, placing the blame on IT and not on me. I was the one who wasn't working on the program, not the program on me. So I stuck it out throughout the whole year. I got rid of the few holiday pounds I had put back on but then leveled off bouncing up and down plus or minus 2 pounds the whole year since. This morning I weighed 204, same as 10 months ago.

But it's a victory because for the first time in 20 years I have not continued to go back up. I have not returned to my old eating habits and I've learned how to control myself at this level. I hope to go down a bit more. It may take a long time. I know I'll never be thin because thin is the last thing I want. I work too hard at building muscle to want that gone. I am in control however and that's the name of the game.

Jack, you are absolutely right. When we put on weight it's not the program that doesn't work, it's us not working the program. Still, it is difficult to stick to the straight and narrow all the time, and once you've reached goal, it is difficult to keep a balance between eating enough to keep from losing, but not too much, and to maintain the exercise routine. But if it were easy, we'd all be slim and fit.

Yo Niki, I was at OTB on Geo Bush for dinner last night (agility was rained out). We'll BOTH pretend we didn't do the Mexican Meal Deal, and hope to get rid of the excess by weigh in this week;) I didn't eat badly, except for about 6 chips and salsa, but everything seems to be really salty. Oh well, now I remember why I haven't eaten there in a year.

Yes, women's beach volleyball is my new favorite sport. Saw a match the other day that was completed in a driving rainstorm. Appreciate the aesthetics. :D

Could someone please tell me why the women play volleyball in skimpy little bikinis and the men play in big baggy shorts????:confused::mad:

A friend of mine back in college said she always wondered why I went to every one of Glenn's swim meets, whether at home or away.... until she went to a meet herself - 3 words - MEN IN SPEEDOS!:p:p

Actually, maybe 6 words: slim, trim, athletic men in Speedos! (Not that they do anything for me. :D) Don't want to see the average Joe Sixpack (the beer, not the abs) in a Speedo. As for Superbob, he modestly sticks to leotards and his cape. :p

I think it is safe to say that women lean more toward exhibitionism than men ...

Come on, Karlynn.
You know as well as I do that the guys need the baggy shorts to cover up all the junk in the trunk they're dragging around.:D

On the other hand, women have less "baggage" so they have less reason to cover up!;):p:p

It's Wednesday, and although the scales look like they're on a downward trend, I am so sore I can hardly move!

I decided to do a quick workout on the elliptical last night and then hit the pool. Since it was going to be a "quick" workout, I pushed as hard as I could, and then hopped in the pool and swam like the crazy person I must be!:p

I am hurting; pass the Ben Gay!;):p

Mary ... I'm so sorry you are hurting ... I'm a bit sore and already trying to talk myself out of my evening run ... I just seem old today....

Dang, Ref and Mr. Chimp -- don't overdo; Superbob is concerned. Superbob was out in the midday sun showing the lab pup to a prospective new master, and Superbob nearly got overheated just watching them have fun. Seems the humidity is creeping up. Take care -- fall will be here before long; much better hiking weather. (Okay, Superbob knows the Ref was in the pool -- but is doing one of those training machines first at a hard pace, and then swimming hard, doing too much? Superbob is just trying to be your nanny. :D Do be careful.

SuperBob ... don't you know ... only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun ... Sorry Bonz:p

Congratulations . . . you've got the job!:p:p:p And the humidity is creeping back up and that does make a difference.

I've taken some aspirin and feel better, so I can probably hit the gym tonight.

What do you say, Cooker? Are you up for a "if you can do, I can do"?;);)

The Noel Coward work didn't say anything about chimps but I assume this applies to them, too. :p

Mad Dogs and Englishmen, go out in the midday sun.
The smallest Malay rabbit deplores this stupid habit.
In Hong Kong, they strike a gong, and fire off a noonday gun.
To reprimand each inmate, who's in late.
In the mangrove swamps where the python romps
there is peace from twelve till two.
Even caribous lie down and snooze, for there's nothing else to do.
In Bengal, to move at all, is seldom if ever done,
But mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.

Chimps do love the sunshine:cool::cool::D

Women's beach volleyball (Superbob's new favorite sport) -- Gold Medal match in a driving rainstorm, gold for USA. Okay, Superbob has got to transcend his interest in the skimpy bikinis to say that Misty May and Kerri are incredible athletes. They made plays (shots? -- SB must learn the terminology of his new fav sport) not to be believed. Wow! Amazing athletes!
