Superbob and and/or Wise - I nominate you for 'Drill Sargeant' to whip the
slackers (like me) into shape:eek:

Superbob doesn't make a very credible drill sargeant because he is forever wandering off base and eating too much rich civilian chow. :p

However, he will make the sacrifice for you. When you have pies, cakes, cobblers, scones, cookies, fudge brownies, scones, chocolates, and other yummy confections that are tempting you, just summon Superbob and he will swoop in and take those goodies away and see that every last morsel is taken care of. :p:p

It's the liquids that do me in
Apple juice
wine
cola
beer
and sports drinks.

I can't stop

With our one-year anniversary coming up, maybe our intrepid simian leader would like to do a retrospective, in the process explaining what we are all about (if there is a rational explanation). :D

Yes we are coming up on our one year anniversary ... I should have sat down to this before getting on the scales to check my post vacation weight ... It is such a shock that I can not post it, my fingers just won't hit the keys ...

The ThrowDown: A group of people supporting each other in weight loss and overall quest for better health.

Membership requirements: The desire to lose weight, improve health, support others and be supported.

Rules: be nice.

We have been on vacation, I guess you figured that out by my "gone fishin" avatar ... I can only say that I ate my way through SC, NC, VA, KY, TN, AL and GA ... Breakfast biscuits ... candy bars ... hamburgers ... milkshakes (at least two per day Hardee's hand scooped) ... The healthiest meal was with Wise and Cindy and they are a "great influence"

As far as a hard line taskmaster .... someone needs to step in and kick my butt ... ;)

I will start today as a new day and do my best ...afterall ...that is what the ThrowDown is all about.:)

Welcome back, fearless leader!

Question: Do all of us Throw-Downers get cake and ice cream on our one-year anniversary? :):):)

Thanks for the welcome SB ... And the cake and ice cream is a definite yes to all who want to partake:) ... I on the other hand have been banished to the Land of No Sweets or Treats until this vacation debauchery has been dealt with.

I will volunteer for that job!!!!:p:p:p:p

You are hereby appointed official butt-kicker:D ... I have calculated my WW points and am back with the program ... I am planning to walk morning and evening when Sherry goes back to work ... I just cant make it in the morning when she is not up and moving around ... When she leave for work I will walk for 30 minutes and then again in the evening after dinner ... I know I will miss some but if I shoot for a morning and evening walk I might make both but will at least make one, I hope.....How the heck ca one little Chimp gain so much in such a short time:mad: ... somebody got a smoke?

I love Weight Watchers...great program!

I lost 50 pounds in 2003 and then gained back 15 this past year.

As mentioned before I have designated the 29th of August (Friday) the one year anniversary of the ThrowDown ... I have been in closed door meetings with The Ref and she has suggested that we change the name so that it designates which year we are in (Is this thing going on forever?) ... She has suggested "Cooker's 2nd Annual Thursday Weigh-in/ThrowDown " ... this indicates the second year and changes Friday to Thursday to clear up any confusion since we start the thread on Thursday for the Australian members (gday mate:p) ... Let me be perfectly clear about the naming of the thread .... I DO NOT care what we call it ... I just am happy that it appears that we will continue ... If you have a suggestion let's hear it ... Of course we will entertain suggestions form anyone but ThrowDown member suggestions will get more consideration ... If we do not have any input:rolleyes: by the 29th we will go with The Ref's suggestion.

bad feeling when you were having a liason with all of those cobblers-
A different fruit every night:p

"2nd Annual" does sound ominously like it will become something like the Kentucky Derby or the Olympics or maybe the Super Bowl with its Roman numerals -- just go on forever. Maybe that's intimidating to some, or inspiring to others. Don't really care myself. Just my thought, for what it's worth (not very much).

I like it:D ...maybe something as simple as.....

VR ThrowDown II ... or ..............
Super ThrowDown II ... or ....................
Olympic Losers II........

Endless possibilities:D

LOL...when I read "2nd annual" I think, once-a-year. Now if we only have to weigh once in the coming year, well certainly we can generate a loss.:p

Joking aside, it may be because of the weirdness of my brain, but if I were new I would mistake 2nd annual as a meaning different than intended.

Does this mean that I'm voting or really care what the title is? Not at all. Just a friendly observation is all. :)

"Cookers 2nd annual kick-butt git-r-done attitude-adjusting weight-loss thread" is another alternative. :eek::D;)

I got this email from my grandfather this morning... Thought you'd all like to read it:

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! .... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in
it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.

And remember:

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a ride'

AND.....

For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer
heart attacks than Americans.

5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION
Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

My mom sent it to me also , I think she believes this is my philosophy....
I can't imagine why:eek:
It makes for great rationale/justification.
But just remember, you are not 40 yet. You may change your mind:eek:

I agree with Wise, and I really prefer either #1 or #2 in the above post better than what I had suggested.

I can't believe no one asked what transpired in those "closed door meetings" Cooker and I engaged in!:p:p But no, it wasn't a liason . . . like Dina said, Cooker saves that for his cobblers!:D:D

Oh goodie :D...I am pleased we are keeping this throw-down going...it makes me feel happier to know that I am not alone....having not accomplished my goal in 1 year....

I am looking forward to another year of fun and mayhem aboard Cooker's weightloss throw-down series 2.
