Could we do more?

build something and they will come. so they built and built and invented and invented some more, advertised it, enticed us, sold it to us and made $ like mad, using it causes power use - and then they run out of power or cut way back and expect us to cut back, too and folks are just scratchin their heads as to 'what happened?'.

Its a beautiful piccy of the other-side of the world ... I love this sorta stuff...Google Earth is one of my favourite places to play on the www.

Did you see the Cheetah chasing me as I was chasing the Gazelle that ran into the tree?

We originally bought our house because of the fantastic night skies. We even named our little farm "Dark Skies Farm", not because we wanted to give the creepies to anyone, but because the night skies here used to be incomparable. Now we have to deal with the dairies 30 miles away, but it is still better than 90% of the US. People around here refuse to be educated. Lights that use shields are MUCH more energy efficient, and don't interfere with the night skies. Money could be SAVED! Yet, people are slow to change, and nothing short of a change in the laws will force people to use these lights. Sigh.... I never realized how beautiful the night skies were until I moved to a place where you could see the Milky Way... and how important to preserve those dark skies...

Well, I live in the mountain boonies and it is plenty dark out here. But if I go into a big city at night, you're damn right I want plenty of lights on.

If this is supposed to induce American guilt, sorry, none here.

No guilt here either. I love the photo though.

we live in the woods and at night the sky is spectacular. Then we had a light put on our electric pole (like a street light) because of a dirtbag neighbor down the road and his dirtbag buddies. Now we have to get beyond that light in order to see our beautiful sky, but who wants to walk in the woods after dark.

Solar eclipse. :D

Actually I imagine they went with time lapse photography since the world is round and that map is flat.
The world is round!!?? Ross, everyone knows that the world is flat, not round. You've been eating too much rat poison again... better be careful. Next thing you will be saying is that the earth rotates around the sun, and not the other way around.

Some global guilt would be a step forward. There is a whole world out there you know. ;) ;)
