I hadn't heard from the hospital so I called them
I have a date set for July 31st but I can hardly work due to shortness of breath and felling dizzy but is this a symptom of Atenolol???
I have called the surgeon to see if I can get it done earlier and shall find out tomorrow.
I don't think I can wait another 2 1/2 months for surgery:(

Wishing you the best of luck, will be thinking of you tomorrow, lets us know how you get on.

If you are going private you should be able to change the hospital date..I highly reccommend "The Mount" , they have a dedicated Cardiac Unit. Dr.Andrews works out of there as well as RPH.

Atenolol

Atenolol

Be sure and ask your doctor about your Atenolol dosage too. That stuff nearly killed me by itself. I'm sure you know this but do not change your dosage without the doctors instruction...

Wishing you all the best.

Unfortunately I am on Young single cover (private)
and it seems the young dont have heart problems so I am not covered for cardiac.
I have confirmation that my date is 31/7/08 and it cant be brought forward in the public system.
Aparently more urgent cases:rolleyes:
I understand..... but it seems the only way to bring the date forward is if I die
I cant even work so i will just have to veg at home for the next 2 & 1/2 months:(

At least I know its goingt to be fixed:) Though How to Pay the mortgage:confused:??????

I'm so sorry that you have such a long wait and wish you the best. I put you on the calendar for July 31st, so it's official and we will be here waiting with you and helping in any way we can.

What do you mean nearly killed you???
Now I am worried.
I know that it has side effects and breathlessness and dissiness are some but I didn't knwo it could kill you unless you stop taking it abruptly.

What a bugga about your health insurance...I wonder if it is worth having a call around to some of the other funds to see if you could switch plans and get covered for your OP....probably not due to the ammount of $$$ you will cost them....but it may give you something to do for a little while...For my OHS 2 years ago I made the top 20 list of payouts for the year.

Another thought....have you checked with Centrelink to see if you qualify for a sickness benefit of some sort? I wouldn't want you to have your home in jeopardy in the current market.

Best of luck

Yeh and you know the public system sux.
I am self employed painter earning$$.
But they wont pay untill after the operation and if I cant work before it then I dont qualify. And have to be unemployed for 8 weeks for any other benifit.
I tried getting some of MY Super and cant unless the bank threatens to forclose.
I cant even get some of MY OWN MONEY from my superannuation.
So Just when you want less stress this happens.
At least the public system will pay for my op I hope theres no excess because I wont have a job to pay for it and will have earnt too much to get assistance.
I already tried other insures and none will touch me due to pre existing illness.
I spose this is what happens when you think your young and fit and don't need life insurance or anything.
My own fault really. But had my first cardiologiost picked up the aneurysm january '07 I would've upped my cover and the Insurance would have kicked in by now and cover it.

Oh well....at least someone caught it beforee it blew.
Just a shame I cant move it forward due to it being classed as "Elective Surgery"

Thanks for the "Preview" of how things can be under Socialized Medicine.

So far, no one seems to have a good answer to the Question of "How to provide universal Health Care to the citizens (or not) of our country".

I heard one commentator state something to the effect of "When a service is FREE, the Demand will always exceed the Supply". That's an Interesting Observation.

I had hoped there would be a quicker option for you...The public system will cover ALL expenses with no excess so that is at least one positive as well as the services of the talented David Andrews...if you had gone private you would be out of pocket around $3000-$4000.

Your plight has sent me on the lookout for insurance for our eldest son who has just started working...I need to remember to look thoroughly at all the plans just in-case.

Take care , try find something calming to pass the time.
