I awoke this morning with a mouth full of blood, new pillow case has some too (This is where the doghouse comes in) and well, had to clean up my face somewhat. I asked the wife if she found evidence of something being torn apart and eaten outside. She brought in a bunch of feathers. Certainly at some point during the night, I had to feed. I mean to tell you I looked like a vampire that just finished lunch.

You guys do realize that we have to supplement our blood because of all of our spontaneous bleeding that Coumadin causes right?

Oh boy

Oh boy

and you thought I'd take you any more seriously than pan fried rattlesnake recipes?

Some doctor's have that outlook though.

Well I figured a good myth story was in order. Contrary to many peoples beliefs that if we get cut, we'll bleed to death, I have to let people know just how dangerous biting ones tongue when sleeping can be. I have 6 broken teeth and my tongue found a nice sharp tooth to get friendly with which is what caused the laceration and bleeding of my tongue. I was asleep and did nothing to stop the bleeding. It stopped on its own. Yes, that's right, on it's own. Coumadin did not kill me. I'm sorry if that disappoints a few. Now my wife on the other hand, might just do it because of the new pillow case getting stained.

A bunch of feathers? Go for the red meat next time.
Hey weren't you supposed to explode into a massive ball of hemoglobin at midnight along with me?

I'm sorry to hear this, Sounds like it will get painful.

I am an expert at getting blood spots out of linen. Joe's skin became thin like tissue paper, and he had many small bleeding areas that stained the linens.

The way to get the stain out is with cold water, and scrape the material with your fingernail or something like that, a credit card edge maybe. The blood wants to adhere to the fabric so you have to loosen it. Hot water will only set it.

Then rinse it and if it is not all gone, do it again. Then take some detergent and pour a little on the spot and scrape again as above making sure the detergent hits all parts of the affected fibers. Then throw in the washing machine in warm water, not hot.

If the stains are already set, OxyClean works well, hydrogen peroxide works too. Just have to let it sit on the fabric for a while. It may bleach out colored fabrics some though.

I'm sure she'll handle it. Now she screams that I don't get anything done while she's gone, but if I try it, she scream that I did. I've learned some things over the last 28 years and one of them is, if she wants to take care of it, let her take care of it!

Darn tootin'!!

Nancy: I will probably use your tip though; I'm the stain master in our house, but I sometimes need help. Not always good at it.

Forgot to add, hit the backside the same way. For some reason, blood sticks like glue, especially when it has already dried, and what you do on the front of the fabric never did seem to translate to the back of it.

Of course, it is always easier to get rid of it before it has dried, but not always feasible.

There's been plenty mornings I've woken up to find blood stains all over the pillow case from mysterious nose bleeds & I too haven't bled to death yet, Thank God! :) :D

Ross - "That's gotta hurt!" --- NO spicy foods for you today or for a while til' it heals!

Nancy - I knew about the cold water & blood stains but not about the perioxide & the scraping. Thanks for the pointers! :)

I just wish I could get my teeth fixed. One last option to try and if it doesn't pan out, I don't know what I'm going to do.

But on the bright side --- if you didn't have any teeth, you wouldn't be biting your tongue!!! :D :D

My hubby just finished his series of 8 extractions.....he has kept 4 molars, one on each side, top and bottom. He will stay like that for a while and see how it goes.

Hon I'd like to be able to do it like that, but it's going to cost me $800 each time, so I have enough to do this once and once only.

Yup, it adds up quick.
His visits were over 3 months...5 extractions, 4 remaining molars filled, x-rays, cleaning. $1455.00

Can you have the sharp edges filed down? Have you looked into that? I know it can be done, at least sometimes.

Well that $800 covers my hospital copayment for inpatient care, that does not include extractions at $85 oto $150 a piece on the 27 remaining teeth I have nor the dentures which are anywhere from $650 to $3000
