You guys are the best. I honestly feel more comfortable confiding in you than most people I know in person. Of course, that doesn't go for any other forum site I've encountered.

Steve, very good suggestion. I'm going to talk to my mother about that. I know she's having a echo done, but exactly what they're looking for there I don't know.

Netmiff, my mother has COPD which makes allergies that much more problematic. I am trying to get her to regularly take allergy meds so that she'll have as much protection as she can.

Perhaps your family should just stop breathing? If you don't inhale, yoiu can't get the bugs. :D

Wise,

We, too, are going through that upper respiratory crud that seems to be taking the city by storm. My wife and I both had the antibiotics, but we're about 10 days past the last dose and still gradually recovering. The cough seems to be the last symptom to go away.

Be very cautious with your mom's situation. We had some similar issues with my wife. She was taken to the ER a couple of times with chest pain, and had other angina-like symptoms. The doc's kept attributing it to all sorts of other junk. Finally I had her visit my cardio, and he immediately recommended a CT scan of the heart (non-invasive version of the cath). They found a major artery (right anterior, I think) that was 90% blocked! None of the ER doc's, or even her cardio had any clue. She now has a stent in place and is doing very well. The moral of my story is that many ER doc's and cardio's don't seem to take women's chest pain or other symptoms seriously until way too late. Better safe than sorry!

Our prayers are with you, Cindy, Perry and the family.

Steve, Mom's cardio, also mine, is doing a heart cath on her this Thursday to rule out a blockage. I'm glad they are.

They haven't yet figured out the source of her pain. The cath is a good next step, IMO.

Her echo revealed she has Cardio Myopathy, which, as the cardiologist said, could be due to A-Fib, a blockage, or her lung problems. Maybe they will figure this out soon.

So, we're taking Cindy's mom for a heart cath on Wednesday and I'm taking my mom on Thursday for hers. Of course, then we may have further procedures done on one or both mothers. I've been thinking of getting a part-time job, but I haven't had time to have a job recently.

Just wanted to post this update for all of you who prayed for my mother or offered kind words.

Wise,
I hope all goes well for both of them.
You sure have your hands full this week.

Sounds like a week where a little more strength is needed. I'll be praying for all of you.

Guys and Gals, thanks for the prayers. At least Cindy and I are well this time. We are getting good nutrition and will get our rest, and with your prayers added, we'll be fine. One more week that will become a blur.

A side note: I'm so glad we've gotten a handle on our diet or we'd be stress eating this week. We're all that set in that department, thank God!

You and Cindy have a full plate. You and both your Moms will be in my prayers. Please keep us updated.

Sending hugs and prayers, to all of you. Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Wise, You're all still in our prayers. Hope they get some answers this time and find things they can do to help the situation.

Be well and say "Woof" to Perry for us. We haven't seen him since he was finishing his training in Carmel!

Just a quick update:

Cindy's mom had her cath done today. She had two stents put in in her heart. The main artery in the front of her heart was 99% blocked in two places. So that's fixed; she did great. She'll go back to get another 80% blockage in another heart artery stented, plus they'll put a stent in a artery to her leg that is 90% blocked. So, it was definitely time for this to be done.

Tomorrow it's off to a different hospital and a different mom's cath. I'll take my mother at 6:30 in the morning.

I'm glad things went well with your MIL. Prayers for tomorrow with your Mom.

Glad your MIL is fixed up and will be sending prayers your mother's way today!

Last update:

My mom is home. No problem with the cath today. They didn't find any blockages. So we'll wait until her follow-up appointment in May to get the cardio's response to her echo and cath.

Thanks so much for the prayers and kind words.

Wise & Cindy

P.S. Cindy's mom is home as well and doing fine.
