has anyone ever been on the breathing tube for longer than a day please someone respond i am going crazy thanks

Yes, around 24 hours. I believe it was because I had a slight cold prior to surgery. I wasn't really aware of the vent all that much - just off and on. During pre-op I was told to expect the vent 4-6 hours post-op.

Did your son have surgery?

I've sometimes read here about OHS people who were on the vent longer than just a few or several hours.
 
48 hours here, I guess I developed a touch of pneumonia or something - never found out why - anyway, they kept me sedated for it, and I can't remember it coming out, either. I do remember a couple of visitors, and squeezing my husband's hand, and being quite proud that I was squeezing at the right times ! I also remember a few comments and stuff by family members.
 
A month and a half for me. They trach you after 7 days I think. I've been trached twice also.

sometimes i cant get to this computer as often as possible but i will get back to you guys later thanks to everyone, he is off the vent now probibly about 24 hours.

Obviously your son has had his surgery? Where did I miss this? Where did you end up going and what choices did you make? Let us know how he is doing.
