I thought I'd better get this surgery thread started since your Monday date with the surgeon is rapidly approaching!:)

I wish you well, I hope you have an uncomplicated MVR, and I pray that your recovery is short and sweet!

We'll see you on the other side of this journey.

Godspeed!

Good luck and we'll see you on the other side when it's over. Please have someone post to us while your out. please, please, please. :D

Good luck.

I am 10 months post-op (MVReplacement) and have a new life compared with pre-surgery.

Ask lots of questions in the hospital. Mysterious (at least mysterious to you) things will happen in the hospital. My experience was that people were happy to answer questions.

Take it easy for a day or two post surgery then get to work on rehabbing your body. The doc's, PAs, nurses at Mass General were great AND they pushed me to work hard at (1) getting out of bed (2) getting back to a routine of eating healthy meals with lots of veggies, cleaning myself, dressing whenever possible, and exercising as much as I could.

It has paid off. I'm back to working, running, biking, swimming, and rock-climbing.

When you go home, walk as much as you can and re-establish a routine as soon as you can.

Good luck again.

Sending prayers and best wishes for a successful surgery and uneventful recovery. I look forward to hearing that all went fine.
