I've been thinking about Jacqui. I see she hasn't posted in a week. She was having some major problems. Let's all say a little prayer that all is OK with her. I am worried.

Dear Nancy...thank you soo much for thinking of me. I havent posted this last week or so because my spirit is very low at the moment. I made it into town once last week but my heart was so irregular I could hardly breath, (i only walked about 200yards) so I am spending my days on the couch or in bed. Chest pain wakes me up almost every time I sleep.

Anyway, I am counting the days until the 12th Feb as I have an outpatients appointment in Dublin. I rang them on Friday and asked if Thomas could be seen the same day, (as he is having problems with his heart also and we have been waiting for an appointment for him for over 5 months.) I explained to the secretary that I dont have the energy to go up again for Thomas' appointment...she said ''we will see''.

I wrote a letter to the cardiologist and told him from my heart how unwell I feel. I know he may never see it but I told him I feel like I am slowly dying and I want to live because my kids need me.

Once again Nancy, THANK YOU. Sometime I think I could drop off the face of this earth and noone would even notice (except my kids of course).

Also thank you 'curtsmum.'

Well, we would notice, so don't drop off the face of the planet, and post a few times between now and the 12th just to say "Hi", please. You take things easy for the time being, and keep in touch.

May God keep you close, but not too close.

Jacquai, Is it possible for you to go to Dublin and go into the hospital through the emergency department? I'm worried about you as well and I think you need to get to someone sooner rather than later. Please keep in touch with us like Nancy said and let us know how you are doing.

Kim

Jacqui, I really hate reading the sadness and depression in your post. But I know exactly how you feel. I was there, on a couch, hardly able to walk a block and feeling like it was never going to get better. You have "soldiered on" for a long time now and I just know your time to get fixed is coming. You remain in my prayers.

Glad to hear from you, hang in there, sending a prayer your way and hoping you get it sorted out real soon.

EC,

Good to hear from you...and, Nancy, thanks for posting this.

Thoughts/prayers coming your way, Jacqui....

Jacqui
I am so sorry that you are still battling the system for you health.
Praying for you to get the help you need and for your ds too . I didnt' realize that he was ill also.

I agree that the er may be the way to go..
Either way..I am praying for you too.

Jacqui,
I'm happy to hear from you, but sorry to read that you are feeling so poorly.

It's better to express your feelings via the forum than to bottle them up inside. (IMHO)

Keep your chin up and know that we are all rooting for you.:)

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers. I know it must be difficult for you to comprehend the appaling state of the health system here in Ireland.
Every day the TV and the airwaves are full of people telling horror stories about themselves or their loved ones who are batteling serious illness, but cannot access the proper health service they desperately need.

I will tell you one of these many many heart breaking stories which was relayed by a man on the national radio only yesterday. His sister had gone to an outpatients appointment in a major hospital in Dublin, but she was so unwell the consultant said she needed to be admitted immediately..but there were no beds, so he said she should go round to the Emergency Department and could possibly get a bed that way. This poor lady sat ''on a chair'' in the ER for 2 days and was found dead in the toilet on the morning of the 3rd day....she was 39 years old.

There are dozens of stories like these. So you see why my spirits are on the floor, because I know theres no where to turn. My life is in the hands of these consultants who truly think they are god and we should be eternally grateful that they even see us. The cardio I am going to see on the 12th only has one outpatients morning per week, from 9am to 1pm !!!!!!

We have 12 cardiologist per 1,000,000 people here so they can afford to be arrogant. They have, in the last few days agreed to a new contract, which the government has been trying to get them to agree to for over ''5 YEARS'', so they now receive from 240,000euro upwards per year for a 9 to 5 working day, with tons of extra money for being on call or being called in on the weekend but are still complaining that the salary isnt enough.

By the way, our 'Taoiseach' (prime minister) Bertie Ahern, recieves MORE salary per year for running (i use the word loosely) a country of 4 million people, than your president!!!!

It has now been proven statistically that we have the worst health system in all of Europe in a country that is 'supposidly' the wealthiest per capita in Europe. The trouble is that a small amount of people have all the money and all the power!

Again, THANK YOU ALL...please keep the prayers coming.

I think your posts are good testament to the poor state of affairs with the Irish healthcare system.

It is very frustrating to hear.

It is obvious that you need urgent care and there seems to be no compassion.

Not that our healthcare system doesn't have problems, God knows, we have many members here with horror stories, and I have some myself with what my husband endured from time to time.

But it still is far better than the care you have received.

Jacqui,

I am so sorry to read of the problems you are having with getting the care you need from the national health system. I pray that there will be a good resolution soon. Do keep us informed. As others have said, it is better to talk about this than to keep it bottled up.
