Hi everyone,

I posted before saying that I had been denied SSDA (disability benefits) the first go round. Well, I filed an appeal when I received my denial & just today I got a letter from SS telling me that I have been scheduled with a physician of their choice for an examination and/or tests to prove whether or not I'm really disabled!

Well, I plan to keep the appointment schduled for March but I am worried as to the kind of tests/examinations they may want to subject me to. My cardio doesn't even want me on a treadmill & said the only form of exercise I should do is "walking!"

Can anyone here who is on SS disability tell me what to expect? Appreciate your input. :)

Joe was examined by a nurse that worked for some kind of service. She was totally unprepared, did not have most of his paperwork and hadn't read the information at all. She also did not have a clue about the nature of his problems which were intricate and multifocal.

He fiinally got it, but I did the preparation and sent in all the paperwork, made sure all his doctors were in accord etc. plus roundly criticising the ill prepared nurse.

Make sure this doctor has all your paperwork, has read it and you can sort of get a feel if he is up to speed with the nature of your condition by asking him some key questions.

We went through this with my husband. He had not been working for over 3 years( but his was mental) and we kept getting the run around. He went to see their doctor, we waited, were denied again...etc
Finally, we found a lawyer who specialized in SS and 6 minths later, he was approved. I would suggest getting a lawyer who does specializes in SS. You don't need to put up any money. They reviewed our case, thought they could get him approved and worked for a percentage of the back SS. It was well worth it.
As for tests by their doctor, if I were you, I would get something in writing from my cardio.
Good luck.

Thank you all for your advise --- I appreciate it!

I am going to call an attorney on Monday & see what they advise me to do.

I had already talked to this attorney when I was denied the first time & being that I was the one that had gotten all my medical records together, the attorney told me that there was a good chance that I could win this on my own. So, I am going to give him a call again & see what he has to say on this latest development.

Take care! :)

I'm telling you from experience, make the attorney get involved NOW. You stand very little chance of winning on your own, almost none.

If you are taking any votes, I vote for the attorney. Wishing you all the best. We know they have become so difficult over the years and are horribly cruel these days. Unfortunately, their job is to keep it from you. Sad.

Norma,

Norma,

I have just gotten thru my firtst 2.5 years of appeals. I was granted my first 2 years and met the SS criteria, but due to a discrepency with my Caridologists verbage on the SS paperwork, I was denied permenent disability. There (SS) words "your 39" you can still work, "your had surgery so you are fixed", "good luck". So I will file again and start the process over agian. I have been told everyone under the age of 50 gets denied the first time, or at least 90-95% of them do. Just a bit of info, my vote if it is, would like others have said, get a lawyer who specializes in SS cases, I had on and the battle is won, the war continues. Good luck, and it may take some time. My interviewing physician happened at my actual hearing before a judge, he was a bafoone who knew nothing of new info relating to BAV disease and contuation of follow up to aortic surgery, unfortunatly for me. Hope this helps and dosen't hinder. You can PM me if you'd like.
Mike:)
