Conversation between one of my first graders and myself yesterday ...
First grader: How old are you?
Me: Why do you want to know?
First grader: How old are you?
Me: Why do you want to know?
First grader: My grandma wants to know.
Me: Why does your grandma want to know?
First grader: She is just wondering how old you are. She thinks you look about one hundred and fifty.
Me: Tell your grandma that I am not quite that old ,...but almost.
First grader: Okay.(smiles)

The things these kids come up with.:D

Yesterday was also the hundredth day of school. I had them write about what they would do if they had $100.00. Their eyes lit and they went to work. I wish I could do all the stuff they think one could do with $100.:D
Some of them wrote," I would be rich!"

When my daughter was young, I volunteered at her school to assist the Kindergarten and Grade 1 classes.
That age group is just amazing and so much fun. I had more fun than they did!
Praline, you have one of the best jobs....even if you look like you are 150:D

I still think of myself as young as every:rolleyes: I was looking at some 20 year old pictures a few days ago and said, "who's that guy?" My wife says I'm better looking now then when she married me, with my salt and pepper hair and still devilish grin..........love truly is blind. :D Thank God:D

When I taught first grade, we were doing a history walk through the school where there were several pictures of great Americans. There was a picture of Mary McLeod Bethune, who was born in 1875 and died in 1955. I explained to the class that she was an African American teacher who started a school for African American girls with $1.50 and later went on to fight for equal rights. The students then asked me how old she was, I explained that if she were alive, she would be about 125. Next question, "Did you teach with her?"

Another funny story from that same walk was when we saw a picture of Thomas Edison. I explained that he lived a long time ago and invented something really important that we use every day and then asked if anyone could guess what it was. Answer, "The internet?"
