i had my surgery done 1/10/08. had the aortic valve repalced with an edwards lifescience 25 ccm.everything went well. first day i was at about 5%, second day double that and so on.that night after the surgery i was very weak and second guessing the idea of having it done. but now seven days later, i am doing extremely well having gone back to work about two / three hours a day and just finished my first cardio rehab exercises. i pace myself very closley to their instructions and everthing is going much better than i expected. i think the surgeon was extremely good.he told me and my wife exactly what to expect and was correct all of the time. we had excellent care after the procedure and was released 5 days after surgery. would have been one day shorter except my heart went into atrial fib one night and started beating at allmost twice the rate. wil keep further psots as time goes by. robert62

A cardio rehab class and working 7 days after surgery - I'm glad you're feeling good, but this sounds like way too much. I'm sure they're keeping an eye on you at rehab, but understand that if you push your body too hard it will push back like you would not expect.

Please be careful - people who've had their tonsils out are rarely back at work 7 days after the surgery.

I've never heard of anyone doing this before. I don't know many people how could even think properly for the first 2 weeks after surgery. Hmm oh well, come on down to the Tawdry shirt forum and join order of the Tawdry shirt.:D

Hello Robert, congratulations on a successful surgery. Try not to over do things too much or it will catch up to you. Your heart needs time to recover and re-model itself after such stress.
Whenever you are up to it, share some info about your surgery and if possible post a picture of that scar:)

WOW!!!!!!
Be careful there Robert. Relax.
Like Karlynn said, your body "will push back like you would not expect".
Be good to yourself and take Care

I'm glad to hear that you're home, Robert.

I'm a little dubious as to whether you'll stay there at the rate you're pushing yourself, but we'll see!;) :p

Glad you're doing so well, Robert. You did say cardio rehab exercises and not cardio rehab class, correct? I had some arm exercises to do to help my sternum not be too tight. Is it something similar that you're doing? I hope you're getting extra pay to be back working so soon ;) ... Take care and post again.

Robert,

Glad you are HOME!

Thoughts/prayers coming your way for a continued SUCCESSFUL recovery :).

Robert,
Glad to hear your surgery went so well. Good luck on a continued smooth recovery.

Robert,

Take it easy. I have no idea what I am talking about since I am in the waiting room when it comes to post surgery but being a workaholic I know what can happen if you push your body to hard:eek: .Keep us posted on your smoooooth recovery.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like you are really doing well, but be careful. If you push too hard it could set you back. Best wishes for a smooth, uneventful, recovery.
