Slicing up some veggies, (OH YES, GREEN VEGGIES!), cheese and crackers, and bloody mary mix when it's time. Isn't all always?
 
Roast pork and kraut....nothing better....now if I was still a drinkin Chimp I would be mixin up a vat of "Green Gorrilla".....what the gals didn't drink we poured on em;) ;) ;)
 
We're having pizza. Pinot Noir for Cindy. Pinot Grigio for me. We ran out of steam as far as cooking goes. Cheers!
 
New Year Day.tomorrow. pork roast and black-eyed peas.. No collard Greens.:p Noticed today..many carts filled with them..suppose to bring money if you eat them on New year;s Day..:confused: .but they stink up the house.:p neighbor buys them in a can?.Bonnie
 
Had to work tonight..
but the Pork and Kraut are ready to put in the crock in the morning!

2008 will be GREAT!!

Sounds good! Maybe it's a good thing that you have them and we don't. :)
 
Well I'm kind of bummed. The Saurkraut lost it's flavor in the meat and well, it just wasn't great. Don't know WTF, never had that happen before. Gotta go get more kraut and fix this somehow. I had one whole bloody mary to myself and went to bed at 10. Got up at exactly midnight coughing my brains out, so the world new it was new year.

This is not the way the new year is supposed to start thar bub.....I certainly hope it gets better for you fast and this 2nd batch of Kraut comes out better. Harrybaby:eek: :eek:
 
I don't know, the first batch was kind of weak coming out of the can, but seemed it would be alright. Nope. Oh well, add 2 more from somewhere else, that'll perk it up and make it better.
 
The boys in our house all LOVE their cabbage (Kraut)...I cant bear the way it stinks up the house...We dont buy the tinned stuff as there is a continental deli nearby that has fantastic whole pickled cabbages in vacuum sealed bags...really fabulous to make authentic ethnic treats!;) ...Hubbys' mama makes her own the old fashioned traditional way and BOY-OH-BOY does that smell like something terrible. We have never had it at this time of year though as the cabbages are only available in the winter months, same with the smoked pork hocks for flavour.

Hope the replacement kraut fixed up your first batch there Ross.
 
We had our black-eyed peas cooked with salt pork,collard greens,mashed potaotes,turkey breast and small ham and cornbread. We have enough leftovers for a couple of nights. Today it is back to work and diet breakfast and lunch.
 
black eyed peas, pork, cabbage. Good southern meal any time of the year. We were only missing the corn bread.

Today it's back to leftover turkey and our usual fare.
