Since we usually have Christmas afternoon free, we typically go see a movie. Yesterday was no exception. There were 9 of us . . . we went together but due to age and taste differences, the "group" viewed three different movies.

Six of us watched Charlie Wilson's War (pretty good)
Two watched Alvin and the Chipmunks (rave review from our 5 year old granddaughter and a pretty good from her 27 year old dad :p )
And one vote of good for Aliens vs Predators (or some such nonsense!;) :p)

How about everyone else? Any good or bad reviews to share with the group?

Cindy, Perry and I saw "Alvin and the Chipmunks." We give it two thumbs and four paws up.

Just prior to Christmas we saw "August Rush." We give it the same rating.

I think may go to see "The Fat Guy That Ate South Carolina." We may get a glimpse of Myrtle Beach as it disappears. ;)

We saw The Golden Compass a couple of weeks ago and saw I Am Legend yesterday. They were both good movies. I Am Legend is a remake of an older Charlton Heston movie called The Omega Man and was quite good which is not always true of a remake.

We are planning on seeing the second National Treasure movie this coming weekend.

Someone asked me yesterday if I had seen August Rush, but I haven't. Maybe it was my sister . . . anyway, she/he/whomever (!), liked it.

I read that I Am Legend is really long; what did you think, Gina?

And yes, we hope to see the new National Treasure sometime soon.

But I'm kind of like Wise . . . I can't wait to see The Fat Man who Ate South Carolina. But I am a little upset that we weren't invited to the premier.

Mary,

I did not find I Am Legend to be too long. Perhaps it is because I liked the original so much that I knew what needed to be in the new movie to have the same impact. Since it is a sci-fi type movie, one has to like that genre to enjoy it but I never found myself wondering how much longer it would be.

I also want to see Sweeney Todd but probably more because I like Johnny Depp than knowing much about the story other than the "meat pie" plot.;)

A grave oversight on my part:eek: And there was plenty of room around the buffet table:p ;)

My 18 year old grandson and I went to see I Am Legend, it was a very intense movie. Liked it but probably wouldn't go see it again. I didn't think it was too long. I also took my 7year old granddaughter to see Enchanted, it was a neat "girl's" movie. Most guys probably wouldn't like it. My two older granddaughter want to go see it on Saturday. I'm going to take my youngest grandson (4) to see Alvin sometime next week.

I'm glad you mentioned Enchanted, Glenda. That's another one I considered taking our 5 year old granddaughter too. Do you think she's too young?

I apologize if I'm butting in. Although neither of us saw the movie, our 3 year old granddaughter, Emma, went with her mommy and they both loved. Emma loves anything "princess."

OMG, Wise! You're not butting in! That's exactly the information that I wanted and I'm glad you supplied it.
Thanks!:)

Wayne and I saw

Wayne and I saw

"Fred Claus" and "Enchanted" over the holiday season. Both pretty good and "Enchanted" is exactly that - enchanted. A very sweet movie - especially for young girls. The ending is a little far-fetched, but it is a fantasy movie first and foremost. We ran into a friend with his 11-year-old daughter - they were there to see "Enchanted" for the 3rd time. :)

I saw Enchanted yesterday with my 9 yo niece, 11 yo nephew, mom, and sister. Early in the movie, my nephew declared it "boring", but once the action started, I heard him laughing, especially at the bug scene, which disgusted me! I doubt my sister will get him to too many more Disney princess movies though! I really enjoyed it. My 17 yo daughter and some of her friends (male and female) went to see it earlier and declared it good as well. It's funny how those movies that you think are childish when you are a "grown-up" preteen suddenly become okay when you are older!

I want to see Charlie Wilson's War and I am Legend before I go back to school, so probably next week.

Saw I am Legend

Saw I am Legend

I saw I am Legend a week ago or so. My wife left the theatre 30 minutes before it ended because she was so upset (when the dog was in jepardy). I would not recommend it. Very very dark movie. Not for me. I may try Charlie Wilson's War. Of course, I saw It's a Wonderful Life for the nth time. IMO, one of the best movies ever made. I also saw African Queen recently for the nth time. Right up there with It's a wonderful life. I love "feel good" movies because it feels good to feel good. :)

I also saw I am Legend.

the movie is 100 minutes long so I didn't think that it was too long, but I thought for sure my son was going to walk out during the dog scene. I agree that it was not the "triumph of humanity in the face of disaster" movie that I thought it would be. I expected something along the line of "independence day" . That being said, it was a good movie - just not a light hearted one.

"August Rush" = feel good movie :D

we're not very timely with movies in our house ... but santa brought us Shrek III, watched it tonight & we liked it! trying to get out to see Alvin & the Chipmunks over break, heard it was really cute.

I saw pre-screening of

I saw pre-screening of

VeggieTales Pirates Who Don't Do Anything!

It was pretty cute. It's all about 3 reluctant "heroes" who end up saving the day. The best part of the movie is the "walking rocks" They're hilarious!

It will be coming to a movie theater near you on January 11th!

Doesn't Carrie Underwood have some role in "Enchanted"? If so, it is BOUND to be a good movie! :)
