Betty??Please don?t think that I was passing judgment. I was not. But as you said it is not necessarily the answer to all health problems. The person I knew who had the gastric bypass went through about a year and a half of counseling etc. She is also glad that she had it done.

Again, please be assured that I in no way was being judgmental. I carry enough baggage myself to ever throw the first stone??.Tom

Tom, I didn't take it that way at all. Even if you meant it critically that would have been OK too though. I'm not thin skinned(or anywhere else). :D
Anyway, it should be available for when it is appropriate. People get to a certain size and the bigger they get the harder it is to loose. Look at the struggle we are all going through. I like to watch the TV show "Big Medicine" and sometimes people do conquer the fat so I know there is still hope.;)

OK, I might as well post it here since we've already hijacked this thread pretty thoroughly. Has anyone ever really found any dietary supplement or diet aid (OTC) that really made a difference for them? I think I've tried about everything but I've never found anything that really affected the numbers significantly.

Wise, you and Cindy sound like you are doing very well. It sounds like the two of you support each other and have a good sense of humor about the whole thing.

Sorry! I'm late again!!

Doesn't look like the Halloween candy and the brownies I had to make (and then EAT) for my bowling league cost me too much. No gain, no loss. Still at a 6 pound loss since we started this.

Cooker, SEE???!!! Glad the exercise and getting out and stuff is making a difference for you.

Hey, I was wondering. Since I dropped my beta blocker and upped my other BP med (with permission, of course) my heart rate has been higher...at around 70 -85. Does a higher heart rate help with metabolism???? Seriously....would it??

Okay. I'm definitely going to whomp myself into gear for the next few weeks. Thanksgiving won't really bother me that much....it's the Christmas holidays that are going to be tough!!

Bob!!! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo! We need that avatar! Please!!

Have a great weekend, ya'll.

Marguerite

To Wise, Cooker and others who have lost or held the line, or held close to the line, or fought the good battle---CONGRATS! (though I suspect Cooker of spiking his banana with prune juice -- ouch! That's a thought that hurts:p )

Okay, I have wallowed in self-pity, as I do once in a while. Not one of my more likeable traits, but that's me. Thanks for all the encouragement

Especially that reminder from Wise ---- CARRIE UNDERWOOD ---- yes!!! Superbob can envision, now that he has his powers back again, flying in to any concert Miss Carrie Underwood is having and listening to that heavenly voice of hers! I think her new album, "Carnival Ride," may turn out exceeding even her debut album, "Some Hearts," which has sold more than six million copies. Watch for singles like "Flat on the Floor," "All American Girl," "The More Boys I Meet" (the more I love my dog):) , and "Last Name" to rise to the top of the charts as they are released one by one over the next two years.

Superbob is putting his Carrie album on now and reminding himself that he has lost 14 or 15 pounds and that's pretty good and the rest will come, esp now that Sadie Lady, the Superdawg, can take long walks with him on these nice crisp days, and then he can come back and listen to Carrie's wondrous voice. Life is good. :) :) :)

Of course, Superbob will be available to fly in and rescue you from your scones, cupcakes, and cookies. How Superbob disposes of those delicacies may be a problem for Superbob though. :p

Prune Juice!!!!
But unfortunately it was banned by the FDM.......Federal, Drug and Mary:p :p :p :p

betty,
I have tried one or two, only taking one dose before throwing the whole box away, long story short, you have to be really careful, most diet aids are just big doses of stimulants. . .stimulants + Heart patient = BAD THING!!!!!

Not OTC but diet drug is probably the cause of my leaky valves.

I have decided that weighing in on Friday is best for me. We have a tradition of dinning out on Friday nights (Friday is International Date Night you know:rolleyes: ). So after the weigh in Friday morning I feel like I have a free pass for Friday?s night out.:)

And if confession is good for the soul it is time for a cleansing:eek: ???last night??Gyro, fries, Greek salad and a HUGE piece of chocolate cake from Tiffany?s Bakery

Between confession and strategically taken PJ I am as clean as a whistle:D :p :D

Mary, referee: There it is -- a confession! Smoking gun! Use of a banned substance -- PJ.

A 5-pound penalty? :D :p

Cooker will have to be taken into custody for interrogation and further testing.
Right now all we have is the word of the chimp regarding his unauthorized use of PJ; he is apt to recant and declare PJ is peanut butter/jelly.
Cooker, you will be advised of your rights once you turn yourself in to the governing board of WITD.
Bail is set at -3200 calories.
Remember a positive prune juice reading will garner a stiff sentence--three mile walks, seven days a week.

Someone must have used my login:eek:  You guys know I would never use a controled substance:cool:  PJ= Pineapple Juice......is that banned too:mad:

Any juice should be a controlled substance. Way too many carbs and you get better nutrition from the actual fruit.

I also must confess - I should have weighed in yesterday and not Monday. We went out to eat last night to a place that had 1/2 slab bbq ribs, baked potato (the real kind, not nuked) coleslaw and dinner salad for $6.95. It was VERY good. But I had been so good!:(

Do I see a chimp having a temper tantrum - screaming, jumping up and down and pounding his fists on the ground?????? Bad chimp, very bad chimp!:D

My darling Cooker - go ahead and have your unsweetened fruit juice - but know that it takes a lot of fruit to make a glass of juice and even the unsweetened are still higher in carbs.

I also hate to tell you this, but a friend went to a nutritionist and found out that she is definitely glucose intollerant. The nutritionist told her No juice, but she could have any fruit she wanted EXCEPT grapes and........ BANANAS!!!!!

And aren't you crafty . . . . blaming some other chimp for using your username/password to log in! ;) :p

And great work, Rachel!:)
