pain in my rib cage ???

Hi I've been having the strangest pain in my rib cage and was wondering is this due to the weather or what ????I had my mitral valve replacement 4 years ago and now and even last winter got this pain in my rib cage and my doctor gave me pain killers.Has anyone else ever suffered from this ???I've been told about backaches but never about pains in rib cage.Thanks,Shana

I think I have seen it mentioned before about arthritic types of pains in the sternum according to weather, etc.
Is your pain constant or worse with inhaling?
Did they ever take an X-ray? It may be a good idea.

Bina Hi thanks for your interest yes it's worse when I inhale but after a few days of pain killers things do get better.I've noticed though that it happens always in cold weather fall/winter.I am curious to know if anyone else has had the same problem.Shana

You may have damaged cartlidge and that's what causes the pain, just like an arthritic joint. Couple years back I got sick with all I can call it is whooping cough, I coughed so hard that I heard and so did my son, one of my ribs crack. Now, whenever it's cold or rain approaches, I'm in pain.

My name is Morgan, I am 20, and I have pain in my right ribcage pretty often (I am 20 yrs, and 16 yrs post op (had 2 surgeries as a kid) this pain happens right around one of my chest tube scars, and it is pretty wild. one night I almost made my mom take me into the ER (maybe 6 or so yrs ago) usually, Its when I do something stupid like weed whack (I am all of 110 lbs, and 5 ft tall with some pretty serious heart issues, so weed whacking is alot for me) but like ross said, I think its damage to my cartilages in my chest from my 2 surgeries, or adhesions from scar tissue (my chest tube scars are pretty sunken in, I am sure there are some adhesions in there) what I do when this gets bad is take 4 advil 4 times a day to reduce the inflammation. this is what helps best for me. if its bad enough I throw in a tylenol with codeine

pain in both shoulders

I have experienced recently a swollen shoulder in the area of the rotory cuff,a small tennis ball size of fluid gathered on front of my shoulder. I will have an MRI done monday to see whats up. Has anyone had such problems? Maggimay

Ross, your the most precious person ,you always have a thought, a moment or just a Hello ,for someone else, your a very special person.
Maggiemay all my best for your medical visit on Monday I'll be thinking of you hope all goes well and they can get that fluide(sp) off your shoulder.
I'm feeling better today after the pain killers it's just that I hate taking any medication that isn't necessary.I just feel like a whinner some times..I was telling my mother in law the other day...it's 4 years since my operation and I've never felt really good again ever since.Once it's Fib then another time an infection my blood.There always seems to be something I get over one thing another pops up.I'm generally very positive but there are days.....I know I'm being a brat but don't you all ever wake up and think oh how I'd like to feel good just for one day ,a week or even a month I really would like to feel good for once.I know I should be happy I'm alive and I am as I love life and people I'd just like to feel alittlebit better for once.Sorry I've cried on your shoulders I needed to get it out thanks again to all,Shana God blesss you

Shana believe me I know exactly what you mean. I seem to be thinking that more and more lately, as more of my life is now behind me than there is in front of me, and I feel Iv been struggling along for most of it....sigh !!!!
