Just got the thumbs up from my cardio after the second post surgery visit.

He's asked me to gradually cut down my beta blockers to nothing over the next month or so.

That will leave me on coudamin (5mg daily) lipitor (One 40mg tab daily) and 2.5mg of coversyl daily.

The first few days of beta blocker reduction have been interesting with my memory for names/places suffering a dip but it never was that good even before surgery.

Cholesterol is down from pre surgery limits even with limited exercise, this should get better as my regular visits to chiropracter to fix lower back issues are paying dividends.

Given the thumbs up to lift and shift stuff as long as it does not involve a massive strain....

Will see him again in 6 months and have another echo at that point.

Congrats!! That's a great report! Imagine a cardio telling you to stop a beta blocker!! Most of us can't bribe our cardio to get us off of them!! Excellent!

Please go very very slowly going off the beta blocker. Tapering off is much kinder to the electrical nature of your heart. Let us know if you notice any other differences once you are off of them. Many of us hate those particular meds and yearn to be off of them.

Stay well! Great job so far!!!!!

Great news m8ball :)
Being on a lower level of beta blocker will hopefully be a good thing. Do you take a Beta Blocker and an ace-inhibitor?
Just curious as I take 4mg of that particular ace-inhibitor - Coversyl/Perindopril - daily as a means to reduce BP. It seems to do the trick.

Good to hear that all is going well for you...

One less pill... great!, some say BB's are the cause of those wild dreams...Shows that even Cardio's from the same office have different treatment plans for us ...I too was on the BB and ACE combination but now only on a BB which will be a lifetime thing. I sometimes wonder what the difference would be if the BB was swapped for an ACE inhib.

Sorry to hear your lower back is acting-up...Hydrotherapy is one thing that helped me, and its a great excuse to paddle around in a really warm pool everyday!

Have you gotten back on your motor-bike yet?

Okay, I'm Jealous
6 1/2 months post-op and still no report from my echo or cardio doc. (Lord knows I have phone 3 different offices about 6 times for a report) I'm still telling myself "no news is good news" Not even sure if I'm on a beta blocker. But I DO get inspired by someone receiving a good report.

Congrats to You Dave:)

Apologies for the lack of response, not even turned on the laptop since i posted this, been a busy few weeks....

Yep, i take 2.5mg of coversyl and the cardio is keen to keep that up for the forseeable future as a means to strengthen the heart.

Yep got told to do 1/2 dose for two weeks and then 1/4 dose for two weeks.

Busted that out to 1/2 dose for a month and then 1/4 dose for a month just to be safe.

Thanks for the support guys, hopefully after a summer of activity i can give another successful update....
