Awesome job, Bob!! Way to go. Niki, too! Betty, great start!!

I'm confused but, again, don't really care. Seem to be hovering in at 187 which is basically....still.......just 2 lb loss from the beginning.

However 2 good things. I seem to be sticking faithfully to my walk 2 miles, Curves 4X a week and of course, bowling league on wednesdays now. The other good thing is that my husband joined a 24 hour fitness, got a trainer and she sent him home with a slimming (bird food slimming!!!) menu for the next few weeks. No carbs at dinnertime. Yes!!! So I assume all this will be good news to me, too, because when he wants potatoes, I give him potatoes and of course, eat some for me, too. Anyway.....I'm stalwart, steadfast and just not going to let the scales get me down. :D

Headed to Seattle for the weekend.....baking cookies and brownies for my middle son and his roommates......uh-oh!! I'll be good.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Wow! Bonnie, that's excellent; a loss of 1.75 pounds turn the tortoise into a hare! Bob, you are my hero with that 4 lb. loss! Niki and Betty congrats to you two too! Everyone else, keep up the good fight!

Marguerite, I'm sure you will start to see progress (especially now that hubby's on board!) soon; you are building muscle and exchanging lean body mass for fat, so the scales are seeing stagnation, but I'll bet your clothes are feeling a bit looser.

I'm down another 1.5 pounds this week for a total loss of 13.5 pounds, so I've gone from 179 to 165.5. (Karlynn, dear, I'm coming to get you!:D :D :D ;))

Am I the only one who is finding with this diet stuff that almost all social function are food oriented? Tonight, night on the town and DINNER. Tomorrow, night out with friends and DINNER. My church thinks a casserole dish is a Holy Vessel??..
This is where I need to make a change in lifestyle!!!!! I don?t know if this old dog can learn this many new tricks!!!!
HELP!!!!!

NO! Cooker. Don't make any changes in your social life. Make the changes in your eating habits. Look for a small plate. Grab a spoonful that is level, not heaping. Opt for salads and don't use dressing. Push fatty stuff off to the side like we all did as kids. Look for lean meats. Choose fish. Do not change your life if you like your life. It is not worth it. You can learn to have self-control. It's tough at first, but then it will become habit to just eat smaller portions and choose more light-weight fare.

And eat slowly. Then maybe you'll find that you got too much on your plate anyway. It takes 10 minutes for the stomach to tell the brain it is full. Start listening!!!! But eat slowly and give the message a chance to get there in time!

Yes Mother:p
I am in no danger of changing my life style, not anytime soon anyway.:D I did that two and a half years ago and am still getting use to it. We do not have kids so there is no reason not to go out and we usually do every time the phone rings. Good advise on portion size. As far as salad without dressing, no. Self control is the only vice that I have never had but I am working on it. I have tried to substitute fruit for candy when the sugar cravings come calling. It works, sometimes.

All and all am pleased with where I am and what I am doing. There is always room for improvement. Compared to several years ago I?m a picture of health??.now back on those scales:mad: ;)

I knew it! I got back on the scales this morning and I DID loose another pound. I guess I had too much sodium Thursday night, resulting in an "inaccurate" weigh-in on Friday. I was down to 134 this morning! But I will keep my Friday weigh-in and hope that next Friday will be more accurate. Just had to share. ;)

Oh, and cooker, I know EXACTLY what you mean about food and socialization. ANY time I get together with family or friends, a meal is involved. I wonder why that is. It can be very difficult when the people around you aren't working on eating healthier, so you're surrounded by delicious looking food that you really shouldn't eat. Am I the only one that freqently will stare at other people's food at the dinner table, wishing I could have a bite? Apparently I'm the only person who ever finishes my meal (which I need to stop doing!), because other people leave food on their plate and it looks SO tempting! Am I just weird???

Niki,
I suggested substituting sex for the food with family (WV only):p ;) and friends and I was quickly shot down. As far as finishing your meal goes, it sounds like your mother raised you right.:D And “Are you going to eat that?” is a perfectly acceptable question in the South.:)

GOOD!!! Sometimes I carry Life Savers around with me when I am having days of sweet cravings (they seem to go in bunches). That way I can just have one or two and literally throw the rest out if I need to. And it satisfies my craving with just a short dose. (I mean they have a hole in the middle!!!!!how much sugar can that possibly be??? And they remind me of donuts!! Double bonus! And they're cheap and you can find them anywhere!! Triple bonus!)

Jumped on the scale this morning and I'm down 2 pounds from yesterday! Yay! The no carbs at dinner is gonna work! I can just feel it. Now off to make a hearty breakfast for the 3 hour drive north.........oh well!!!

;) Bye, Ya'll.

I'm late for the weigh-in  ...I still havent managed to lose any pounds or ounces :( ...though my jeans are fitting better...I'm glad we have until Christmas as it is gonna take me all that time to work out why I aint losing weight. I previously managed to lose 10lb before our challenge,...if only I could capture that moment again and start losing this last 10lb in time for summer.

Well done to all our contestants...there are alot of fabulous results being reported. We all seem to have adopted a much healthier relationship with food. Imagine how happy our hearts must be feeling....anyone had their cholesterol checked since starting the throw-down?

Thanks, Cooker. :p Because of your mammoth burger/art, I couldn't stand it anymore and got a Wendy's double with cheese for lunch. However, I threw away the bun and ate only the burger (in fact shared some with Sadie) and tomato. Does that make it a carb-conscious lunch? :)
