Heh ... thank you, Rob . Though, I shyly admit I was figuring on St Louis not playing well ALL of those 3 games with Milwaukee ... since we all know how much Tony L HATES the Cubs.....especially when they are better than his team.

But, true to form, the Cubs lost AGAIN today to those pesky Marlins.


I still have a hunch that the Brewers WILL be the NL Central Champions. After all, the Brewers have a better schedule to end the season ... and the Tribune Company still owns the Cubs ... and Chevrolet is still the Cubs' #1 sponsor. Can't win with that combination backing you.

So far, the Cubs have proven me right about that for over 25 years. I'm confident they will prove me right again.

[Though, I wish just once they've prove me wrong. But, didn't happen in Gram's lifetime.....]

Been a nightmare year for Redbirds and a miserable September, but darn if they didn't shut out the Mets tonight, thus enabling the Phillies to tie the Mets for first with the weekend to go. So if there are any Phillies fans out there, am also accepting thanks from them. Nice to have a little bit to cheer about at the end of this season.

Brewers lost again tonight, Cort. I think your Cubs are going to make it.

He he ... seems we have several takes on that. ION Television (which, incidentally, features "my women" Monday-Thursday nights at 6pm central ... "my women" being, of course, TV's 'Designing Women') has a spot for 'Mama's Family' (7p central) that goes something like: "You've seen Dancing with the Stars, now there is Dancing with Mama" ... he he he.

Besides Designing Women and Mama's Family, I love the Show Alice....I always loved "Flo" (Polly Holiday).....and I am hooked on Dancing With The Stars because Marie Osmond is on this season.... Harrybaby

Heard another play on the Dancing with the Stars TV show ... a radio commercial for a bank features a son and his Mom ... in this "episode", the Mom is going to Hollywood to give TV execs the idea of "Dancing With The Grandmas" ... he he

As I noted in the other thread:

In mid-April 2005 [a few months after the Boston Red Sox stunned the New York Yankees coming back to win the ALCS 4-games-to-3 from a 3-0 DEFICIT ... and SWEPT the World Series from the pesky St Louis Cardinals], I told a then-co-worker, a Chicago White Sox fan, to mark my words ... the Chicago White Sox would be World Series Champs that year. That prediction was, obviously, correct, as the White Sox swept the Houston Astros.

Likewise, just as I predicted, the Chicago Cubs are out of the playoffs this year. Duh!

*rolls eyes*

NO hitting and NO pitching at ALL in the playoffs ... so unlike the last couple weeks or so of the regular season.... But, that's not all that surprising ... seems to happen every time the Cubs are in the playoffs.... I heard Ron Santo say on the air a few times that the Cubs players were trying hard, but it sure didn't look like that to me...especially given their high salaries.

The good news about this for me, a Cubs fan, is that the Cubs keep their streak of proving me correct going. The Cubs will not have a winning season (defined by their owners as winning the World Series) until the Tribune Co no longer owns them ... and Chevrolet [sorry for the profanity] is no longer a sponsor. Period. I haven't been wrong for over 20 years...and I know of only ONE way to prove me incorrect ... and that will not happen this year.


Since EX-Chicago Cubs first basement Mark Grace (currently a broadcaster for the AZ Diamondbacks, with whom he won the World Series against the New York Yankees in 2001) was behind the goat and Bartman references/images at Chase Field earlier this week, GO COLORADO ROCKIES (or, if Philadelphia wins that series ... GO PHILLIES)!


And, for the American League ... GO CLEVELAND INDIANS!
