Well, damn! I'm just sick about this. THat three day hospital stay was just too good to be true, darn it! I know Lyn would welcome your prayers. Hugs. J.

From Justin's page:

Well as much as I Love Justin, sometimes, I think having a boring kid would have it's plusses. SOO the good thing about the stitch problem was after lots of testing they discoverred he has a pretty big infection under his sternum too, SO he is going to the OR today. They have to reopen his sternum, and clean around his heart ect. They also had to bring a plastic surgeon in because they probably (but NOT definately)will have to make a muscle flap to help with the sternum healing. I think this stay will be longer than the one for the surgery. Justin FEELs great, has only had tylenol since he was admitted. Which is good going in to surgery healthy, but stinks he has to start the healing thing all over again, but he will be fine.
We don't have a time, it is definately today, but they just have to make sure everyone is available at the same time.
Yesterday they keppt talking about the CT scan so he couldn't eat until after that, but had to stop everything again at midnight. I'm so glad I thought ahead and orderred food before the cafe closed last night or he would be really hungry.
Well, going back to the room, we aren't going to set up the laptop since he will be going back to CCU after surgery. BUT I'll update on CHOPs computers when we here things from the OR, gee why does it feel like we just did this?
So please say lots of prayers this is a 1 time thing and they get everything cleaned up and he can get on with his healing. Thanks, Lyn, Don and Justin

Damn!

Damn!

This isn't very nice. Justin is young and tough and will make it through this. I'm so sorry.:(

I'm so sorry to hear Justin had to go back to the OR! :( Can't he ever be boring for a change? At least for his mother's sake??? My prayers are with Justin, you & your husband that this infection will clear up once they get in there. Tell Justin to hang in there! Please keep us posted when you get a chance!

So very sorry to read this- all our prayers are coming your way Justin!

Lynn,
I can't add much to what I said in the earlier email, but hang strong and my prayers continue.

Oh, how terrible! I felt sick to read this latest development. He will weather the storm though. I am glad he went to the hospital when he did. It probably saved his life.

Very positive, happy thoughts and prayers coming your way. At least it sounds like you caught it in time to not do any really bad damage.

Please let Justin know that I am praying for him. I know what he is facing with a muscle flap. At his age he should be fine. It is a slow recovery though.
Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Mine was done on March 14 and is getting better everyday.

Peace of Christ,
Don

Lynn,

I am so sorry to hear of this. Having been through "infection cleaning", I am happy to hear they are consulting a plastic surgeon as they can help with a lot of making sure it is fixed right and stays fixed.

Praying that this is a short and successful stay and the last hospital visit for a very long time.

Latest from Lyn.

Latest from Lyn.

Sorry if this is screwedup, but I am postin through very dilated eyes (completely legal, Cooker, :D eye exam). Lyn can 't post to vr from the hospital but said she could read. Y'all please keep those prayers going that this infection is completely nipped in hte bud and very quickly. THank God for those stitches not dissolving or they wouldn't have caught it so fast as Justin was feeling pretty goood. Hugss. J.

From Lyn:"
Hi Justin is still in the or, mayb ab another 2 hours, but things going well here are the updates from this afternoon, botton is first

We talked to the heart surgeon, about 3:15 he is done his part, he was able to open him and clean up everything. The top of his sternum was good so they were able to leave that part alone, but the bottom they had to pull the wires, clean the bone up and they were able to clean around the heart without opening the very top of the sternum,so hopefully that will help with healing as far as how he feels ect.
The plastic surgeon, had to do the muscle flap, where he is putting a section of muscle around the bottom of the sternum to helpp w/ healing, since his sternum has been oppenned and closed alot. He said he should be about 1-2 hours, which slow and meticulous works for me. also he is probably doing the closing, so Justin hopes that will be a really nice scar.
oh JUstin was in a really good mood this morning, he isn't happy by any means but we were laughing and joking so that's good. Next post should be after they are done, Lyn, Don and always Justin -the never boring young man

WOW THINGS SURE CAN MOVE FAST. ooops sorry, (it's Fri about 1 pm)They just took Justin to the OR. The room you hang out in before surgery was the same one he had 10 days ago and the nice room in the CICU, will be the same one he had, so the pictures will look confusing,( when I finally get them here) So they don't really know what they will do until they are in there. Dr.Spray is out of town, so Dr.Gruber will be doing this surgery, he's very good and Justin liked him this morning. Our very favorite anethesia Doctor, told him , they will have to exchange emails or something, so they can meet other ways then surgery. I'm ALL for that. Well keep the prayers going, Love the Wyatts

Watching for update and praying!

Watching for update and praying!

I am so sorry Justin must go through this! You guys are certainly in our prayers and we will be watching for the good news that all has gone well. He is such a positive, good spirited young man. I suspect that is due to the incredible mother he has. May God be with you!

Lyn, I'm sorry. I felt ill when I saw the thread title. I hope things go well for your Justin. Hang in there.

Update = good news!

Update = good news!

Justin is finished and back in the ICU. Please keep Justin and Lyn in your prayers for a quick, smooth recovery this second time around . No more shenanigans and no more surprises, please! Hugs. J.

From his page:
YEAH!! we are back in CICU, Justin looks great. He is off the vent and talking a little, mainly asking for Ice, but is happy with the little pink sponge thing dipped in water.
Dr.Low (sp?) took about 2 hours for his part, he said he was able to not use a real big flap of muscle, since once again this was caught really early, (Thanks to God and all the prayers) so hopefully it will be beeasier on his right arm (They took the muscle from the right pec area) Well Thanks so much, off to swab his mouth, Lyn
ps he has 3 small drain tubes, I'm writing that for the heart moms (and dads) and because my 47 year old brain loses track of things

So glad things are going so well- thoughts and prayers with you all through the night!

Hi I'm able to get on my my laptop, thanks Janet. Last night was pretty good, I'm going to copy the post I just made, thanks for the prayers and good thoughts,

Good morning. Justin had a really good night. He is off oxygen and is sitting up in a chair, so that's good. He is really enjoying apple juice. They are doing a good job w/ pain, actually they called pain management to join his every growing team. They main part it hurts is his shoulder/pec area from the muslce flap. One of the nurses described it to having a really bad muscle tear, so he has to rest it for a while, to let it heal, which is fine with us, One less job for Justin to do he can concentrate on his breathing excercises and hopefully soon walking. It does make it a little harder to get up, since now beside the sore chest, he can really use the right arm. Oh they asked before hand which is his dom side, so they used the muscl from the other side. I'll try to update this afternoon, unless things change, Thanks again, The Wyatts

Thanks for the update, Lynn. Our thoughts and prayers are with Justin for a speedy recovery and a homecoming soon!
