Great report, Rob and your Mom has a great attitude which I am sure will hasten her recovery. Hope you catch up on your rest too!

What a spunky gal! It's so nice to read how it's going for her, especially after the earlier worries. And no wonder you're getting a little worn out. Be sure and eat a healthy balanced diet. That should help.

Your mom sounds like she is on the perfect recovery path for mind, body and spirit. Bless her heart and every other part.

Rob, I told you to rest.

Your mom sounds like a good soldier. We are on her side about wanting to go home. When she does get home, I bet the only thing that will keep her in line will be her soreness. Once that's gone, she'll be up and running. My best to her. Blessins...........

Good News!

Good News!

Hi Everyone,

Mom was moved from ICU into a step-down room today!

She is doing so well. Still as stubborn as ever, She Wants To Go Home!

This morning they removed all her remaining tubes and moved her into her room. I have to admit though, as many of us know, when they remove those tubes it hurts! When I went into her room this morning, just after they removed her tubes, she was sitting in the chair, and tears just flowing from her. I could tell that it was painful, gave her a big hug, and told her she is moving to her own room, and that she is that much closer to leaving.

It was so hard for me to come into the room and see her like that. BUT, after I gave her a big hug and told her it will get better, she smiled and the tears went away.

It was a very long day again today, she wants to go home so bad... At least the room she is in now has a window and she has a wonderful view of Boston.

All in all, for someone 80 years old, I think she will be out of there real soon! My guess is 7 ot 8 days. Today marks 5 days since surgery. She still has some A-fib, and they are treating her for it. Hopefully that will settle out tomorrow.

I have to fly back to Nashville tomorrow morning, but I feel good knowing that she is doing so well, and that my brothers and sister will be there to help.

I really think that my being there has assisted and helped educate my family in many ways, and again, I want to thank all of you, with all my heart, for the support, thoughts, and prayers through this trying time. ( ok... sentence is too long) ;-):)

I'll get to go home for 5 days, and then back to Germany for 2 1/2 weeks.

My best wishes to all,
Rob

So glad she is in the step-down unit now and I know how hard it will be for both of you to say your good-byes. Keep us informed and we look forward to hearing that she is home soon!
