Hi I wanted to start a new thead, so all the prayer Warriors would see this, instead of putting it at the end of the other threads, Lyn

Andrew is a little more uncomfortable today. I think the ICU is getting to him. He was up alot last night and complains of leg pains and of being too hot or sometimes too cold. He really need some sleep.

He's had some nausea and has thrown up a couple times but is getting some meds for that. The first time I think he tried to drink too much soda to fast so I keep reminding him to sip and savor.

Tomorrow he is suppose to go to the OR to get his dialysis changed from what he has now (the name alludes me) to a Tenckhoff PD peritoneal dialysis. It will no longer filter the blood directly by coming from his femural vein but will have this cath in his abdomine.

It is suppose to take about an hour to an hour and a half depending on how things look in there. So I am sorry he has to have another proceedure another trip to the OR and having to be intubated again- for hopefully just until he wakes again. His poor throat. But this will be better than having what he has. He will be able to move without worrying about the machine beeping at him and he has had a few nights of being bothered while they try to get it to not clot off for a few more hours. Hopefully this will make him more comfortable while we wait for his kidneys to hopefully wake up.

So of course we covet your prayers for all these things. We know God is with Him through all his trials. Andrew has been asking me to pray for him before certain things, like the restarting of the CRRT, and I know God is listening and comforting both to me and to my son.

On the up side he had a couple more visitors today his uncles Brian and Donald and his good friend Cameron and his dad stopped by to visit. Andrew was not real lively but I know he appreciated it. He just doesn't have much energy today.

Thanks everyone. I can feel your prayers and see his progress.

heart hugs,
Wendy

Hoping it gets much better for Andrew soon, Wendy. Please give him our best wishes. And take care.

Thanks again for posting, Lyn.

Andrew and his family continue to be in my prayers.
I know God has this under control, even if we cannot see how He possibly could.

Peace of Christ,
Don

I am sure many of you are wondering "what's up with Andrew?" So sorry to have totally missed updating yesterday and rather late today.

Andrew came through his surgery fine. He did have to remain intubated over night because he just wasn't breathing all that well. His sats were a little low prior to surgery and we didn't want problems afterwards.

He is extubated now. It came out I think about 4:00 and he is doing fine. He doesn't get to drink again until after 4 hours from then. He took it much better I think than I would have.

Andrew has been running a fever for a few days. He had a fever going into surgery and it was as high as 40.1 C at extubation. We do not know why. He has been cultured and nothing yet from anything to give us a reason. He had a cat scan of his chest to rule out any infection from that area.

So since he was cultured and we don't have any results he is in isolation which just means we and everyone who comes in the room has to put on a gown and mask and then remove it when leaving the room. I've heard it could take 7 days before a negative is considered conclusive. So this is fun.

Besides the fever Andrew seems better. We have reduced one of his "anxiety" meds and he seems more himself. He really seemed beter last night and slept much better than the two nights before which means I slept better too. :-D

Randy and I have gotten out a couple times today and that was nice. I wish I could get Andrew out for some fresh air as well. It is looking like he may be stuck in the ICU for the next 5 weeks but I am hoping we can have a little break and that they can maybe move him to the floor for a bit of his stay.

The plan is to wait for the 6 weeks post op antibiotics to be done before replacing Andrew's ICD. His rhythm has been very good post op though.

So I hope you can forgive me for not posting sooner. It has been busy and I have had little time to get away the last couple days. Lots of waiting for surgeries, proceedures ect...

Oh yea, he is back on CRRT. They want to give the new cath as much time to heal as possible so as long as we can get this to work we will keep using it. hopefully until Thursday or later and they will not do it over the weekend so if it works real well they would probably like to wait until Monday. Whatever works.

Andrew as always is a trooper. My friends and family are so supportive and I don't know what I would do with out you.

Pray God's blessings on Andrew to continue to heal and to feel some comfort, for the fever to abate and or it's cause be figgured out. Also for no problems drinking or eating and for continued strength.

Thank you all,
Wendy

It seems like Andrew has taken residence in my heart. I think it is one of the best things about getting to know people on-line. Wendy, Andrew and your whole family are in my prayers and I so appreciate your updates. I hope that this day is a better one and that the source of the fever is soon found and that the treatment is effective.
