They took him at noon then for a TEE then to surgery. It's 6:15 and we have no news. I'm hopeful that at 9ish we will be able to visit him in recovery.
Keep those prayers going....
Thanks,
QV

He has been in my prayers all day and I'll continue to keep them coming.

I hope you get the good news before too much more time passes. I know that it's hard waiting, but I'm sure the surgery will go well.

We're still pulling for you and for Scott, as you traverse this trying period in both of your lives. Please let us know how you are doing.

I'm sure Vicky will post when she gets a min, but I heard from her that Scott is out of the OR. His annueryism was even bigger than they thought, so it is a huge Blessing he had surgery now. Surgery was very succesfull., Lyn

So many times this is what is discovered which is why I get upset when people tell me that their aneurysm measures 5.0 and they plan these massive activities. They have no idea what they are dealing with. If a person is in surgical range, they are a walking time bomb waiting to explode.

It should never happen that the aneurysm is found to be bigger in surgery than what was measured through testing before hand. When I hear that, it tells me that someone did not know how to measure the aorta.

Sometimes, the aneurysm is not found until the chest is opened. That should not happen.

Sometimes, the chest is closed again without even recognizing there is an aneurysmal aorta. That should never happen either.

Diagnostic testing prior to surgery is the best way to evaluate the size of the aorta - not what is seen by the surgeon's eye when the chest is open. But it takes expertise to do the diagnostic testing and assessment accurately.

Unfortunately, these things continue to happen, even though they should not. It is still a very difficult world for those with aortic aneurysms in the chest.

I am glad that Scott has come through this surgery and wish him the very best in his recovery!

Hope that Scott is doing well and I am praying for a speedy recovery for him

Wonderful news!

Wonderful news!

I'm thrilled to hear that Scott's surgery was a success. We will be looking for that next update and I hope that it brings news of a smooth recovery. Hugs. Janet

and I was wondering just why his echo read his aneurysm at 6mm but Dr Colvin said it was huge. Will have the exact measurement on 5/29 when we see him for our first post op appt. We go to a superb cardiologist. He even treats the past Senator of NYS. I have no idea what the story was/is. I'll post after our visit.
