Hi Everyone,

I want to say thanks to all the people here because all your comments in all the forums were very, very Helpful before my surgery and now i wish i can do the same for the people coming here too.

I'm recovering with more UPS than downs.

Nice to meet you, Victor!
It's especially nice to know that you found VR before your replacement, and I'm glad that you intend to share your experience with others who are in the waiting room.

Welcome, Victor. What nice things you've said. I'm sure you can be a great help to others.

My oldest son will be 25 in September. I am so glad it was me who needed the surgery and not him! I'm sure your family is very relieved that you are successfully through your surgery. My son is in college; graduate school. He used to play some basketball, but now he just loves watching the college games. Our "March Madness" is upon us, where the best colleges play each other for the national title. My son also loves lacrosse. I wonder...do they play any lacrosse in Columbia?

Congratulations on coming through your surgery well.

Marguerite

Hello, Victor. Welcome to Valve Replacement. Sorry you couldn't get in before your surgery, but if you were able to read, that's the most important part. Glad you are getting yourself back. You'll be playing basketball again before you know it. If you have questions, we have answers.

Welcome Victor, glad you found this site informative.

Now, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, it's amazing what these people know.

Best Regards,
Ruth

so glad that you are doing well!
Are you following the March Madness college basketball playoffs here in the states?

Thanks again!

Thanks again!

I knew since i first visited this site thata all the people here was wonderful and now i prove it. Thanks to all your replys.

i wish i can answer all your question with this:

Hum.. first i was always a very active man since high school (never drink or smoke) and i was part of the varsity team and the team of my city (Bogotá D.C) i'm only 5'10 but since i was 16 i was able to dunk (obvious i trained beyond the limits of comprehension) when i was 17 my Dr. Told me that i had a murmur, but i was ok. Same in College, the only thing i did during those 5 years was play ball and study but when i was a senior i knew inside not everything was going fine, but what the... it was my last season at the time i was diagnosed with severe aortic regurtitation.

But when i began to work that was it! i couldn't stand the whole journey and became very difficult to me to still train a little and work. So last year i decided with my Dr. to do the replacement.

I choosed a Medtronic 3rd Gen Valve because even when i´m not the best B-ball player in the world is my joy. Maybe in some (as i was told) long years i'll be again in the O.R but taking Coumadin since i'm 25 didn´t sound fun to me.

I only spent 3 1/2 days at the hospital. And i'm doing just fine with my recovery, to be real the only thing that bothers me is the pain in my shoulders and my back. But i ride in cars, go out and walk and thank to God everyday i'm feeling better.

To someone who asked, no, whe don´t play lacrosse too much, i think some high schools play it but is not a college sport here. The most popular sport here in Colombia in soccer but i found it boring (just me)

Hi Victor, wanted to add my welcome to you to the forum, too. Sounds like your recovery is going well. I am a Medtronic tissue guy, too, though maybe not exactly the same model. Best wishes to you and look forward to seeing your posts on here.

Hi Victor,
Welcome to the site, glad you decided to come in.

It's good to see someone from Bogota. I will be there again in about 3 months, it's a beautiful city. My wife is from Cartagena.

For Sure i 'm following the march madness on ESPN2! NCAA basketball competition is GOOD! and i love that the kids still play with a lot of heart. I don´t know if i'm getting older or what but NBA is not what used to be when i was a teenager in the 90's.
