Marguerite - I wouldn't send out the nice men in the white coats after you just yet, I honestly believe you're right and it's a good suggestion, thanks! I'm a big believer in the mind-body-spirit connection and that all need to be in balance for us to be at our best and healthy.

Stretch - For 47 years I was in NSR, then I had surgery. So, my odds are pretty good that NSR is what my body wants to do naturally. Unfortunately, us mitral patients with enlarged atriums are prone to a-fib. I wish I'd had my surgery just a little earlier before the atrium enlarged as much as it did, I think that puts me at risk for a-fib more than the rest of the population. My best chance is to maintain a normal weight (BMI < 26), avoid caffiene/alcohol and get exercise.

My cardio just approved my going to cardiac rehab at the hospital down the street. I'm so excited! I'm a wimp, I won't push myself on my own but I will if I feel in a safe environment. Then, I'll learn what's ok for when I go to the gym on my own. In another thread you asked about heart monitors, my F11 just came today and I'm still learning it but it's pretty cool. The band is pretty comfy, the battery is self-changable on mine and I'm looking forward to using it as a guide. The best part is, my resting heartrate is in the 70's now NOT the 110-120 like it was!!! Wooo hoooo!

Ruth, I was thinking about you yesterday. I am really glad the cardioversion worked!! I don't know how much your atrium measured before your MV repair, but it will probably get smaller by the time you have another echo, so right there that should improve your chances of not having the A-Fib come back.

Excellent news, Ruth!

Thoughts/prayers continue coming your way, of course....
