had my ascending aorta replaced on jan 4 of this year. my wife has commented that since surgery my snoring has been GREATLY reduced -- to almost none. before that she said it had gotten very bad, and i've been teased by buddies from golf trips that i keep them awake in adjacent rooms. she thought at first it might be the pain meds, but i've been off them for 6-8 weeks. she thought it might be being propped up on all my pillows to sleep upright, but i've been sleeping flat now for at least 3 weeks. has anyone else noticed a change in snoring after replacement of big aneurysms (i was 5.8 cm at CT a month before surgery). i'm thinking maybe having an aorta the size of a coke can was restricting my breathing, but i certainly never noticed any problems breathing, nor do i feel i breath better now. any ideas -- joe

After my AVR surgery in 2003...my wife said my snoring had basically disappeared. Unfortunately...now that my valve is having issues the snoring
has returned.

Just asked the ol ball and chain and she says my snoring has almost dissappeared, i'm still snoring from time to time but its very minimal.

She also said that before surgery she thought my snoring was getting worse and worse...

Could this be a new protocol for taking elective surgery..:D

Same here, my snoring had gotten bad and since the surgery is gone. I wonder if sleep centers know about this little fact.

WOW!!!! anyone else got any ideas on why?? i was thinking maybe a coke can sized object in my chest might have something to do with. any good google searches out there????

Me too. My wife said my snoring has greatly diminished since AVR. I wonder since I lost 10 lbs if that has something to do with it.
