I used the spirometer hourly as prescribed and I don't recall any coughing, at all. I think I would remember that too because a cough would have HURT! Sneezes HURT too!

We got home yesterday after a scare with a fever on Monday(details in sig other forum). Byron is doing well except for some memory loss and confusion. Is this normal? It started when he had the fever and was very severe then. It has improved trememdously but is still worrisome to both of us(him mostly, I figured it is going to clear up and I may have a chance to change some bad habits in the meantime(lol).

We go for a Protime check on Monday. I have contacted a company and sent forms through ours surgeon to get a home INR machine but it will take a little while so we will be going to get weekly checks until we can do it our self. When I mentioned to the cardiology nurse at our docs office that we would be getting our own INR check machine she said that it was clinic policy that they would not follow us if we did our own PT checking. That seems ridiculous to me and I told her we would worry about that when we got the machine. I guess we will change cardiologists when the time comes. It seems kind of silly but the doc is not our surgeon and we have only seen her a couple of times so we do not have alot invested in her.

My husband would be lost without our "chart" and we are still recording everything in the notebook.

Thanks for all of your help.

Ann

Sometimes memories issues can arise right after surgery. If it continues to concern you, by all means mention it to the doctor. Mention anything to the doctor that concerns you.

Now that your husband is home, remind him that his only job for the next few weeks is to walk, sleep, eat and breathe!

What doctor is scripting Byron's 'coumadin/warfarin?My Cardio does this for me..After 5 years..and he approved my hometester after 3 months.:) All I have to do is call in my INR..once a month..and his nurse calls me right back...Always in range...and she will call my script in every 6 months to local drugstore...so simple..I am just lucky I had a Cardio up to date on coumadin..:) .....The memory lost..yes..When I came home and had to answer questions..on the telephone..I could not remember my own telephone number..:p that will too pass after a few weeks..just those awful drugs he got in hospital. ..Bonnie

Glad your home. The memory loss could be from the anaesthesia and meds. Always pass any concerns by the doctor. Hope his recovery is easy and uneventful. Best wishes to you both.
