I know this is odd, but what else is new?:p :p

On Valentine's day, I received a red coffee mug that is kind of heart-shaped.
One side edge dips in, while the other side sticks out just a little.
The idea is to sip your coffee from the "stick out" side by holding the handle with your right hand.
But I don't use my right hand to drink my coffee or tea!
When I first started thinking about it, I thought maybe I was just weird.
(ok, ok, I can hear the comments now--be nice!):p
But then I thought, maybe right handed people drink their coffee holding the cup with their left hands, and left handed people drink their coffee while holding the cup with their right-hand. Hmmmmm.
So please humor me, and let me know which hand you hold your coffee cup with, and if you are right, or left, handed! Your names will display, and you can vote in more than one place.

Um, Mary? Now you're just scaring me.:D
Karlynn and Wayne,
Have you really paid attention to which hand you use, or are you just guessing?
Before it was brought to my attention, I would have answered "right hand because I'm right-handed".
I figure as long as we don't have any, "use my feet" we're ok here!:p :D

I actually gave the subject due consideration before voting. The thought of holding a mug with my left hand just makes me feel very uncomfortable.:( Maybe if I'm writing it's an option, otherwise it's the right hand for me baby!:D

Mary. I use my right hand for that..but normally, I reach for things with my left. My father is left handed and we did so much together growing up that in many cases, I think I am able to use my left hand almost as much as my right. The left is like the reacher and the grabber and the right is the stronger (like twisting off lids and such..and obviously writing and throwing).

I didn't have to do a trial check.....my mug sits to the right of my computer when I'm here! ;)

So you just needed further validation that you're weird??

Although right handed, I use both because my table by my chair is on my left and it's just easier to use my left hand. Does this have any significance to my giftedness? lack of giftedness? insignificance? normalcy? nada?

Ain't a gonna say it----ain't a gonna say it..........:p :p :p :p

Well, I took your poll. My coffee mug and I are both right handed. However, I do (at least at this desk) drink from my water glass with my left hand. Coffee mug is on the right side of the computer, water cup is on the left.

Can't say as I've ever tried using the feet. HUUUUUUM!!!! Nope, won't work (OOOOPS, excuse me gotta go get the mop and clean up that mess).

May God Bless,

Danny :)

No guess here...I was holding my coffee in my right hand when I first read your post. I actually tried my left and it felt weird. I'd probably get more on my shirt than in my mouth :D

Wise,
I just clicked to see the numbers, and I guess you and I are in this one together.
I want you to know that you're my new best friend!

I always use my right hand.. it tastes better that way:D
My left hand is pretty weak does not take over very well.. I am very right dominate.

Actually, I pretty much do everything with the left hand, but that's because I'm left handed......DUH!!!

OK ROSSMAN, ARE YOU THE ONE WHO USES YOUR FEET???????

If I'm drinking my Wild Turkey l hold my glass with both hand after a few drinks and I drink from a plastic cup only. Its safer for everyone.

Huh, Mary.....boring day in the Heartland? :D

I use my right hand, like most of the good pitchers for the Cardinals. :D

Here's wishing you an exciting weekend, Mary...:)

Do I catch a hint of sarcasm in your post, Bob? ;)
This is merely a case of "inquiring minds want to know" and this mind wants to inquire!
Besides, coffee drinking is one of my favorite pastimes and this deal with the wrong-sided coffee mug is wrecking havoc with my morning routine!
I'm still having trouble accepting the poll #'s, but I am enjoying the responses!;) :)

Interesting...

Interesting...

I am right-handed and use my right hand, here's how I know... My 10 year old daughter made me some coffee this morning and poured it into my travel mug while I was getting ready to take her to a dr apt.

I grabbed it and we headed out the door. While driving, I picked up the mug with my right hand and noticed she had put the cover on it with the hole on the lefthand side. I said, "Molly, you put the cover on wrong.", She replied, "Sorry Mom, I wasn't sure which hand you used to drink your coffee ". I tried drinking with my left hand and driving with my right...but it felt weird.

The strange thing is, when we got to the dr's office, I fixed the cup, but then I was doing a crossword puzzle and using my right hand to write with...so I picked up the mug with my left hand to drink, (not using the handle of course), and I thought, hmmmm...I could have just as well left the cover on the other way!

So, I guess my preferred coffee drinking hand is my right, but when using my hand to write, I use my left. And I figured this all out this morning before even reading this thread! Now that's what I call WEIRD!

Ah yes....the travel mug. Another validation I drink my coffee with my right hand as I always put the drinking hole that way.

I just noticed I tend to chew on the right side, too. I wonder if there's a correlation? :p :D ;)

I hope all of you are drinking de-caf? :D Coffee... I make a fresh pot of regular coffee when I get up..mainly for hubby later on.....I pour myself 1/2 cup.. let the cat out..if I don't ..he would jump of top of my computer table. ..I hold the mug with right hand..read the late e-mails that have come in..and that's it for my coffee.............. Would give me the jitters if I drank more..now, hubby drinks it all day..Even, with a fast-food drive-thru lunch. I drink water all day with my meals....Hubby even makes a pot for after dinner....and never has a problem with sleeping?............I thought coffee would raise ones BP...All that caffenne?..Bonnie

I just went into the kitchen and put some water in a mug then tried both hands to see which was my normal way! It was holding in my right hand but I think earlier in the evening when I was making turkey consomme and was tasting it I held the mug in my left hand and used a spoon in my right hand.

I am right handed and also have stroke residue weakness in my left hand.
