OK, I just got a call from my cardio's nurse, and she said, "your holter results look great!" I was at least a little shocked. I said, "then what am I feeling...the skipped and extra beats and the SOB?" She said, "oh those are just PVC's and everybody gets those. They're nothing to worry about." I asked her how many I had had on the monitor reading, because I feel them all the time. She said it didn't say on the report. I told her that I realize that most PVC's are benign but that with someone like me with heart disease and particularly ventricular tachycardia, are we sure these are benign also. She couldn't answer that one. I also told her that I was having symptoms of SOB and can't sleep at night because of these symptoms and that at least I'd like to know WHY these are happening all of a sudden (over the last couple of months). She said my doc is out of town and he would look over the results when he got back next week. Am I being too overly concerned about this? I would appreciate anyone's thoughts. LINDA

You're uncomfortable. It's changed your life the last few months. Not to mention that it's caused you to worry. Take some comfort in the fact that all they are seeing are "benign" issues. Let this information take some of the stress off. Then speak with the doctor about what his impression is of the Holter and what you can do to get rid of some of these PVC's.

Linda, it sounds like you are like me. Most of my pre-VR arrhythmia was considered benign. But I had so much of it that it made it very hard to live a normal life. I felt every single blip and blurb and run. My doctor said that it was a curse that I could feel everything, but a blessing because I would know pretty quickly when something was really wrong. Many people have all this "junk" and don't ever even know it because they don't feel it.

My brother-in-law is in constant a-fib and can't feel a thing from it. That amazes me.

Looked at your profile..What type of valve, surgery date, ect..Why you should put this all underneath your signature.:) ..Really helps us to know more about yout surgery.... Stress really makes a difference. My son was admitted to hospital late on Sat. night for chest pains.. I could hear my heart beating..more....until I got down there on Sunday morning..and saw he was fine.:) ....and dismissed with all normal tests.:) Doctors said, probably acid reflux....but, his Mother was awake :p all night............Just worrying about nothing. ...but, we cannot tell our heart that.:p Bonnie

Bonnie, I will try to learn how to put that stuff under my name. I'm so computer illiterate that it's sad. I had a mitral valve replacement in 1981, I have a defibrillator because of ventricular tachycardia, and I've had an A-V node ablation because of A-fib so I'm also pacemaker dependent. Now I have to try to find out how to get this info under my name.:) LINDA

Linda,

I am happy to hear you are not having dangerous arrhythmias. However, you are still having problems that are affecting your quality of life. I would go to see your cardio as soon as he is back in town (why is it they are always out of town at times like this)? Insist on more testing to try and figure out what is happening. An echo might be in order to make sure the valve is okay (or have you had an echo)?

I second the recommendation that you SEE your Cardiologist ASAP to see if he can give you some relief from those symptoms.

Knowing they are benign is only a partial solution. I too felt weak and SOB when experiencing PAC/s PVC/s. My Cardio worked with me to find a (Low) Dose of Toprol XL that controlled my PAC / PVC symptoms without wiping me out from too much medication. Hope you can find a workable solution also.

I had PVC's and they bothered the begeezes out of me. Atenol knocked 'em down a peg for me and helped the day go by without total heart obscession on my part. For some folks they may be benign, for me they were beyond bothersome.

Look at the blue bar at the top of the screen. Read across to the right and click "Quick Links". The 4'th link is "Edit Signature". If you don't see "Edit Signature" in the list then you aren't logged in. Put the "stuff" you want down below your name there. In computer speak that "stuff" is called a "signature" or "sig" for short. It's how us computer folks keep our jobs, by not speaking English :p . Good luck.

Thanks Ruth for the info on how to do the signature thing. Thanks also to everyone on your comments and advice. I really appreciate it. I lived with A-fib for a long time, I mean years, but this stuff is almost non-stop. I just want to make sure that with my V-tach, this isn't something that can be more serious than most PVC's are.
