Hello everyone!

Thank you for the good wishes, on my husband's surgery. Much has happened in the last week.

Our new grandaughter, 5.5 weeks old, was having breathing problems last week. She was admitted to the hospital last Wednesday. She has been diagnosed with "central apnea", which is basically an immaturity of the brain, and is at high risk for SIDS. They are giving her caffeine to stimulate the central nervous system, and she is on a monitor in pediatric ICU. Scarey, scarey, scarey. She seems to be doing better on the caffeine, with far less episodes. She will go home,,,,hopefully soon, on a monitor.

Wayne got a sore throat and an eye infection, and called the surgeon's office last Thursday. This morning they called, and said they were going to postpone his surgery to Feb. 14th, so ALL of that is on hold for awhile. We are both relieved, as our daughter and her family really need our help right now. Man plans, God laughs.

MaryBeth, What a tough time your family is going thru, I will keep you in my prayers, for your granddaughter and her family and your husband and of course you, Lyn

Wow:eek: Looks like you got your hands full with family having major health issues. Hang in there. I'll send a big prayer upstairs for you.

I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet granddaughter. I'm sure you are all very worried. What is her name. I will remember her in my prayers.

Ross likes to say that when surgeries get postponed and it usual ends up being for the best. Sounds like you sure need the time to rally around your daughter and granddaughter.

How very true!

Thoughts/prayers coming to both your granddaughter with her current health issues ... and your husband with the delayed surgery.

Hope both your granddaughter and your husband are better soon. At least they are now aware of the central apnea and she can be monitored, so the risk of SIDS is greatly reduced. It is scary, though. They are so tiny.

Best wishes to all of you.

Thank you all for your good wishes. We are indeed very happy that mu daughter and her husband were so vigilant, and took her back to the doctor, when they saw her struggling again. The first sleep study test showed that she stopped breathing 25 times (significant events) in an 8 hour span. The caffeine they are administering is definitely working though, and we should know more today.

This is the second "postponement" of my husband's heart surgery, and he told me last night that if it was to be postponed again, then he would NOT have it. The first time, our eldest daughter died two days after our visit with the surgeon 6 months ago. Now this. Frankly, I don't blame him

Oh, our grandaughter's name is Adelaide Renee Jordan.
