This must be some sort of game, but I'm not finding it very funny.

Not a very nice Christmas present from the state Ross! Found this in my search:

The DMA program has a capped appropriation which may limit the number of individualsapproved for DMA. The CDJFS must permit all individuals to apply for DMA. However, because of the capped appropriation, approval of DMA applications may be suspended toensure that DMA expenditures do not exceed the state's appropriation. The Director ofODJFS, pursuant to rule 5101:1-42-01 of the Ohio Administrative Code, issued anAdministrative Order to suspend the approval of all applications for Disability MedicalAssistance (DMA). As long as this administrative suspension on new DMA application is inplace, applications are denied using reason code 693. In Ohio, CDJFSs administer the program under the supervision of ODJFS.

From what I can gather, they "ran out of money"??

Oh My God Ross....I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS......

Oh My God Ross....I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS......

This is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS.....It's like the system sees what there are for bills for Chris and then deny him because they just don't want to pay....It's like me for instance...with all 20+ Meds I am on to keep me living, my Primary Doctor has told me that the reason my insurance has stopped paying for alot of my meds is because they would rather see me die than live so that they don't have to pay....You and yours have my total support and prayers...What A Mess...I am so very sorry for all that you all are going through...Harrybaby:mad:       (And Did I Forget To Mention-  ?)

Maybe with the New Year appropriations, they will allow Chris's claim????

Maybe, but the appearance is that the program reached its cap in 2004. Unbelievable.

Ohio lacks class on this one, big time. They can claim they have the program, but not have to pay out on it at the same time. Political hayday at only the cost of a few lower-income constituents...

Very disturbing,

Sure would like to know where all the state taxes we pay are being used. This is outrageous. Maybe our new, great democrat governor will follow through on his campaign promises and fix all the BS that Ohio seems to pull. ;)

I am disgusted.

Short ... sweet ... and to the point.

I concur whole-heartedly. And, no, no pun intended.

:(

Sorry Ross. The hits just keep on coming.
Hope this upcoming year gets better.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.

This means more time on phone starting 'Tuesday. I cannot believe that a hospital case worker did not know the program has been suspended and has been so for the last 2 years.

Can Chris get Disability (SSA)?

Were waiting on the determination services decision, but even so, there won't be any medical payments. Medicare will not take effect until 2 years after the date of disability, so really, whether he is or not is not an issue.

I can't either, frankly. And, if she didn't ... she obviously wasn't versed well enough in her own job. Kinda makes you wonder....

Aye.

Have you consider wrting to your Congressman with copy of the letter, explaining the case and and asking him'her to explain the absurdity of the disability fund?

Cort the only thing I can figure is that there are other programs that he will be eligible for, but this one he's not for the reason cited. I've looked, but havent' fouind any besides traditional medicaid, which is what I thought this applies to. At least I hope so!

Oh you betcha! The elected person has never done a thing for me in the past, so I don't expect he will this time either, but he's sure going to hear about it.

I'm Serious - Call 60 Minutes!

I'm Serious - Call 60 Minutes!

I've heard that everyone gets turned down for disability things like that the first application. Although, the suspended program reference is really disturbing. Can you file again? Of course you'll have to deal with more nonsense.

Or Ross, can you call out some rabid, troublemaking, troubleshooting, compassionate-acting newsreporter? Some of the local ones around here will get up on television and scream and yell and shake their blonde tresses until some victim gets a few dollars refunded for their own stupidity. Maybe one of your local ones would be willing to go to bat for a Real Problem. Call 60 Minutes! I'm serious. If someone there has a grudge against Ohio, they may love to sink their teeth into an atrocity like what your boy has been subjected to!

And isn't there some case advocate that can go through all of these hassles for you instead of it devouring your energy and compromising your health?

I sure hope some extremely positive relief comes through for you soon, Ross.

Ross, the company I worked for before I become disabled hired an attorney for me and it took only about six months to get Social Security Disablity. The company was afraid that they were going to get sued so they were doing everything they could to help me. I had several attorneys that wanted the case but it just wasn't worth it. All my doctors and myself had a lot of papers to fill out but it was well worth it. Every year the doctor has to fill out the same papers and the Social Security office is very adamant about getting them in on time. I know attorneys are very high but it might be well worth it in the long run. I just can't believe how the state is treating you. Surley there is some political person that can raise cain for you .

so sorry for what you all are going through. i hope you are able to find some kind of financial assistance for chris soon. situations like these sure do bring to light the problems in our government assistance programs. i agree with everyone else ... make a lot of noise to anyone who will listen ... congressmen, tv, newspapers ...
