Doc or not, just good to hear your doing ok. Some of us aren't that lucky.

Don't ask me how this got in 1st place. I'm still trying to figure it out.

Ladies and gentleman, this is the Captain speaking. Please return your seats to the upright position and fasten your seatbelts. We have entered into unchartered waters and it could get a little dicey../

It seems, in their infinite wisdom, that the office manager/secretarial/clerical staff at my primary care physician's office have decided I am no longer in need of medical care.

I guess I'm cured because they've seen fit to discharge me from their practice.

This past summer I missed a number of protime appointments due to my involvement as a reporter and an emergency responder during the hunt for a fugitive who has since pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder and one count of murder in relation to the shooting of three New York State Troopers. I also had to reschedule an annual physical due to another conflict and the doctor's office saw fit not to mark that in their books when I showed up for the rescheduled appointment...

Yesterday, I tried to call and confirm another date and time I had arranged for that physical and was informed that I would no longer be served by the practice.

Um... Yeah, ok, whatever you say boss, go f*** yerself...

Pardon my French.

So I'm not in the best of moods these days.

The docs are great, but their front office is full of bumbling idiots minus about two women who actually know what the hell they are doing.

Beyond that, things are good. Still working on the house, it's coming...

I'm in the process of signing up with an ambulance service. Have to set up a physical and drug screening for that.

Still at the paper, still working insane hours, still ticking!!!

Nice to hear from you, Harpoon. I'm sure you'll get the doctor business straightened out. Don't let it turn you into a Grinch!!

Don't know if you've been around much, but we have several wonderful photographers frequenting our midst, now. StretchL just had surgery last monday, and of course, our poet, Dennis. You need to get your photos back into the fray!!

Have a wonderful holiday. Stay safe!

The practice instituted a policy over the summer that said if you missed more than (I think) three appointments without having cancelled them on at least 24 hours prior notice, you can be discharged. They made everyone sign it "electronically" as they came in for appointments following the institution of the policy...

I think in a "technical sense," that is to say, if you look ONLY at the number of appointments I've scheduled and missed, then I've violated their policy.

However, if you put those dates up against the days I was either knee deep with the state police as they searched for Bucky Phillips or playing firefighter/EMT the day two troopers were shot (one later died) by Phillips, you would see that I had some pretty extenuating circumstances to my missed appointments.

And Ross, there's something to be said for someone who is ALWAYS first in line, but I can't remember what.... :D

Call your Dr. office back, and insist on speaking directly to your physician (he'll probably have to return your call). Explain what you told us here, and I am certain that you will get your appt. time. I worked medical front office for 20 years (although I was one of the competent ones!:p ). The medical staff has no idea what is going on with the office procedures, and they will override whatever every time. Plus, the scheduler should have told you when you scheduled your last time re: what their policy is regarding cancelled appts., no shows, etc. NOW, if your physician gets annoyed with you (usually it's a non compliance issue to how they are trying to treat you), they can "fire" you from their care, but they have to send a registered letter with the reason, the cut off date, and a recommendation to another physician.

I'm sure whoever in the front office was just having an "uppity" day, and feeling a little grinchy. Good Luck....Remember to be the squeaky wheel -works everytime!

That's pretty tacky.

Maybe a letter would do the trick. They might not let you through to him by phone. I once had a dr that I think his staff protected him from his patients. They were not nice - one of them just seemed to be bothered by having patients in his office. Maybe this guy doesn't need your $?

It sure seems like you should get some credit for all the time spent when the doctor ran late. Why is it they can do whatever they want on whatever time schedule they set but we cannot have lives?

I have just about had it with doctors. They never seem to have it together.

I think that stinks and there should should be exceptions for extenuating circumstances. Heck, I go a a pain doc for pain meds and had to sign a "pain contract" that if Ibroke he could dum me, but He is eve more reasonable.
When you get the doctor situation figured out, have you considerred w/ your lines of work getting a home monitor?
I'm glad to hear from you, you were the first person I knew that was older than Justin (18) w/ TGA. Hope this is fixed quickly and you have really good Holidays, Lyn

Harpoon,

First and foremost ... good to see that you are still around and ticking! Glad to see you post again :).

As for your doc, holy crapola. Are they that busy?

*shudders*

I can't quite put my finger on it, but something about that policy just puts chills down my spine.....

1. by federal l,aw you must be notified in writing by regestered mail if you are being discharged from a physician's practice. I would have to call this situation a severe case of brain damage due to prolongedexposure to large amounts ofmodel glue!:D
