pimply thing on my scar

Hi, it's Randy I am 4 months post surgery and back at work. I am doing great and feeling great. Yesterday all of a sudden I noticed a pimply thing on my scar that is about a half inch in size and feels kind of hard. It doesn't hurt but is buggin me a little bit. Do you think this is a hair working it's way out? It almost feels like when you have a cyst under the skin.

Randy,

It could be anything from a suture trying to work its way out to an an infection to absolutely nothing. I would watch it over the next few days and, if it gets larger or starts to hurt or seep, contact your doctor.

If it stays the same, a call to the doctor might still be warranted. Anything new should be watched.

I haven't tried a compress yet. I will try it tonight. I knew I could count on you guys to give me some good advice.

I think the suture idea is a good possibilty. I am having some stitches from a basil cell carcinoma removed Tuesday and I will ask my dermatologist what she thinks of it.

I swear everytime I have something someone else posts the exact same thing on this site. a couple days ago I noticed a small hard spot on my scar. A look in the mirror showed a small pimple looking thing at the top of my scar. Sounds very much like what you are describing. I was wondering what the heck it was myself! It is very whitish in color

Try the hot compress it can't hurt . Any of the possibilities mentioned would not be aggrivated by heat. There is also another possibility. This could be just an old nasty blackhead or even a type of pimplecalled Asebacious cyst. I sometimes get blackheads in my scar. I have even had a couple that swelled up like yours has. I just open the head with A sweing needle I have cleaned with alcohol, give it a little squeeze and out comes thepuss and the blackhead.

I have one too but haven't had it looked at myself because it doesn't hurt and it's not been a problem. My guess would be a stitch as well. Or it could be an ingrown hair. Let me know what you find out.

OMG you guys are way too patient for me! I'd have been on the phone when I first noticed it. Randy, you paid how many gazillions of dollars to get this done?? Call the surgeon...he owns the scar!! He'll want to know what is happening to his workmanship. There are physician's assistants who man the calls and even sometimes the receptionists have a ton of answers. Just call them on Monday, would ja?? And check your temperature, by the way!

I had something pretty similar a couple months after my surgery, and it eventually just went away. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it gets worse or begins to get painful (same as geebee said).
