Hey Cort!

Good to see you are back with us! :D We do miss you. This has been an interesting thread to read. Wow... Karlynns right... it sorta seems like we're all from the same neighborhood as we converse here on the net. It's interesting to pause and consider where we're all from.

I think the closest I come to accidentally knowing anyone here would be through my brother.... Danny may have ran into - or even know him. He retired from the Air Force after 20 years... wow I think he retired in like 94. Anyway, he did his basic training in Texas (I think that was like 72) and his last term before retiring was at the same base you were at in Germany. I don't think he lived on base either. Sooooo ... if you know Allen Fish.... that?s my bro!!

My Grandma came by covered wagon to a place about 15 miles from where I live right now. That was June of 1916. My fathers family came to Salida, CO in 1928. I'm a Coloradan to the core.

I still own (with my siblings) the ranch I was born on, and live ten miles from there. I can honestly say there is no place on earth I would rather live. Many places I would love to take an extended visit or even have a second home. But I am completely content and happy right where I?m at.

My husband is in finance, so everytime you see a bank getting sold to a new owner, about half the employees end up "moving on" as the new management takes over. We've really enjoyed all the moves, so it was all worth it.

Marguerite - We almost went to the mall in Columbia today! Just recently they were talking about building a development of some kind at Meriwether but there were too many angry people. I agree about Portland, I love Portland and the gorge unfortunately my children aren't thrilled with it. They much prefer warm climates!

:D :D I'd be lost at Columbia Mall without Woodies....can't imagine it. And isn't Lord & Taylor gone, too! Macy's just bought out Meier and Frank. Yes, I think the Columbia (ha, 2 Columbia's in this conversation!!) River Gorge is second only to the Grand Canyon in terms of its raw beauty. Have you read about Hood River lately? It has grown tremendously. And Bend!!! I bet your kids would like Bend! All that nice fluffy snow!! ;)

Thanks again, Cort. Everyone is really enjoying this!

Here's an idea. There's a web site where you can create a google map onto which others can place little indicators of where they're located along with a photo and small blurb. I call it the Where You're At Map. Anybody want to start one of those?

You are welcome. I'm glad people are enjoying it ... wasn't sure if it would "take" or not...he he he. I know on some of my other boards, some people have made connections they didn't think they had ;).

Marquerite, I just reread through some of the posts and saw the PS you wrote me. We lived in Columbia for 15 years! We lived in the neighborhood of Dorsey Hall. It was off of 29N really close to Ellicott City. Our three kids graduated from Centennial High School. Don't know how old you are, but our daughter is 30, and our twin boys are 28. I loved Woodies and was so sad when it closed. We still have many friends that live in Columbia and stay in touch with all of them. Columbia was such a "hometown" back then and kids from all the Columbia high schools knew each other. Our boys were heavily into soccer and met many of their friends through SAC. It is such a small world. LINDA
