Valve Repair - Exercise Restrictions

What are the long term exercise restrictions following valve repair operations?

Has anyone regretted having a repair rather than a replacement?

My Cardiologist only advised that I should not partake in any power lifting. However, this is a typical restriction that all valve patients get - regardless of their valve choice.

I had a "David type" aortic repair and I have no limits other than extreme power lifting, which frankly is not a good idea for most people over 40. Judo and Karate are approved. So I can do pretty much what I want.

Very interesting reading. Gives me a lot of hope in the repair jobs.

Being a builder looking at many refurb jobs you have to ask sometimes why didn't they knock down and rebuild. I suppose I carried that line of thinking over into this.
