I just love to know about other member's weather..:) ..It was 39 degrees this morning..here in the North Georgia Mountains .the day turned out beautiful..blue sky..and our leaves are beginning to change their color. I think this is the earliest that they have changed in many years.:) Leaf-lookers are really coming in droves...We are blessed to live here full time:) ..I feel like we may be in for a very cold winter?..Bonnie

39 degrees? Oh, how I envy you. I wish we had that kind of weather. Just being in the 70s seem to be cooler, especially to the 90 degree weather we having. I hope the weather is cool when we go camping in two weeks at Reed Bingham State Park in Georgia. The park is just north of Valdosta, GA.

It got down to 50 degrees last night here in Southern Ohio. The afternoon was in the high 60's and one of those days so beautiful it can almost make you cry. Crystal clear deep blue sky, slight breeze, warm sun and not a cloud in sight. Spent most of the day running errands that required a car trip with the top down.;) :D ;)

Karl..the Atlanta weatherman says,,it's going to be cool all next week..slight chance of rain..there is a big cold front coming down..and should be here in Ga. next week..Maybe it will hit south Ga. for your camping trip.:) ...Geebie ..Saw many cars today with their tops down..:D We ride around all day in a Tracker GEO..but, afraid to take top off....Have to take our Papillon with us.. :D Afraid he would jump out.. If he saw a cute female.:p Bonnie

We're about the same Bonnie. It is getting close to the first frost here, very snappy in the early morning. Our trees are just starting to turn, and fall. Big season for acorns. I'm using my Nut Wizard all the time.

Do you have a convertible?

Do you have a convertible?

Gina "Spent most of the day running errands that required a car trip with the top down.;) :D ;)

I love convertibles, but have never had a real one. We do have a Jeep Wrangler whith a hardtop that comes off after a few hours work. You do have to be careful how you describe these trips. One of the pastor's at our former church in Minneapolis was visiting with his wife. We gave them the jeep and they were out exploring the back roads. They found a spot with cell reception and Mom decided to call the kids at home. She told them she was having a great time driving around the back country in a jeep with no top on.

Her teenage children will never let her forget that one. What kind of convertible do you have, Gina?

This time of year is my favorite weather in the mountains of Northern New Mexico. We get down to freezing at night, but the walls of the courtyard are warmed by the sun all day, and have protected the plants from freezing so far. We are getting to the low to mid seventies during the day.

Our trees are turning here as well. We have mostly juniper at lower levels, changing to ponderosa pine as you get higher. But, where there is sufficient water we have aspen trees. Jemez Springs (as you might guess with a little thought) has a lot of natural springs. During most of the year they don't really stand out. However, in the fall, the yellow leaves of the aspens that grow by the springs mark a vivd contrast to the perpetual green of the junipers and ponderosa pine. I can walk out on our deck and locate springs that are twenty miles away.

As an interesting side issue to this thread, I would love to hear if any of you have run across people with an uncanny ability to predict the weather? I have a friend/hired hand from the Jemez Pueblo. He and I have spent a lot of time working together, and talk often turns to the weather. Weather can be hard to predict in mountain areas. It is not uncommon for an area 20 miles away to have weather conditions that are completly different from our location. This spring all the experts had predicted a return to drought conditions, and a high fire danger.

Joe & I were working to build a stone/cement wall from the ground up to the bottom of our wooden deck. I wanted to prevent fire from getting undet the deck-if the bottom of the deck is vulnerable, the fire danger to the house is greatly increased. I was stressing about getting it done early in the spring as the forest service was already (in the very beginning of spring) listing fire danger as high. Joe absolutley assured me there was going to be a lot of rain, and no fire danger. We, despite the predictions of drought by the "experts", had record rains this spring, summer and fall. It rained so much it took the whole summer to get enough dry days to have our cement dry around the stones. Joe left school many years ago in the middle of the fourth grade, but he gets the weather right about 70% of the time. a far better record than the professionals.

Dennis,

Yes, we actually have 2 - a Sebring and a Corvette. We had the Sebring out today because we were shopping and can't fit much into the Vette.

Great convertible weather. We even ate at Sonic so we could have the real drive-in feeling.:D :D :D

It was 50 this morning in our part of Florida panhandle. "They" tell us it will be around 40 tomorrow morning. Yeah, sure!

Our dogwood trees are turning, some have already turned and will be dropping leaves quickly now. Last year we had some cold weather in October; guess we will again this year.

I would love to see a picture, especially of the Corvette. Now I have car envy to go along with my camera envy.:) :) I hope it is OK to do that on a weather thread, or maybe you could start a new one.

Here is the Corvette. It is a '96 Grand Sport, which is a collector car. Sorry it's a little fuzzy but the best one we have right now.

Thanks.

Thanks.

I had a feeling it was going to be a nice car. I bet you can get get a speeding ticket before you even start that car.

You know, you guys could get within a mile of my place in the Corvette. (And I have you covered for the other mile). Highway 4, which runs by the bottom of our canyon is considered a great run for motorcycles & sports cars. This summer/fall season we have seen Corvettes, a Dodge Viper and a few Ferrari's. The Corvettes are my favorite. My son-in-law had one, and was very generous about letting me drive it.

(My son has a Mazda RX8 with 6 forward gears and a rotary engine that seems to rev to eternity. I still haven't driven that one).:)

If I had your Corvette, I would spend my time checking out the weather all across the country.

Nights in the 40's and days in the 60's. There's definitely a Fall chill in the air and I even had to turn on some heat for our 2 month old grandson last night. Now that they have gone back to Cambridge, Dick and I have to get busy dismantling the beach and patio furniture, doing windows, closets, etc. It will be Thanksgiving before we know it! My bones are chilled and I am already looking forward to the warmth of FL.

Bonnie, our Heat Pump went out on Thursday and we had a service man come out Friday and its going to be replaced or fixed this week. So, we had the windows open all weekend and have enjoyed the refreshing cool air. But, after seeing the weather last night and predictions of 39 for our area this week I will be glad to have it fixed. It won't be cold enough for the wood burning stove. I know it will be colder up where you are.

We've had several beautiful days in a row. Early morning temperatures range from 50-60 degrees, but as the sun climbs in the sky, we warm into the high 70's. The harvest moon is high in the nighttime sky, and we spent Friday and Saturday nights sitting outside on the patio enjoying the "moon glow."

The weather forecast is for rain Wednesday and Thursday, and the daytime temperatures will only reach the high 50's. BUMMER!
But I'm an optimist, and I believe we will have many more beautiful Fall days before winter really takes hold.:)

Up here in the North...

Up here in the North...

We've had some beautiful days lately. Sat. it was 81 degrees when we had the family pix taken that I posted. By Sun it was a high of about 65...but later in the week they're talking about lows in the 20's (bbbbbbbbrrrrrrrrrrrrr), and the possibility of S-N-O-W.

Actually, we had planned on taking those pics with the fall colored leaves, but it was a little bit difficult to find leaves that were still on the trees...a little early for that this year too.

All of your posts almost made me cry. It is still in the high 80's and humid here in South Texas. I have to run the AC. Last night it got into the high 60's and we opened the windows, but it didn't have that wonderful snap that all of you are talking about. It is supposed to get cooler later in the week, but that will only be for a few days, then it will probably get back to the humid 80's. I know winter gets very old, but the fall I really miss.

Hope you are all enjoying your gorgeous weather.

Barbara

Terry..those evil heat-pumps know exactly when to quit working:eek: Ours went out 3 days before we were to leave the cats inside last May for a 7 day trip...thank goodness, we have a young man (A/C) that came the same day , ordered a new one and put in the following day.:) It is really working great. I have to switch over to heat when I first get up..but cut back off..after 30 minutes...Nothing during the day ...Perfect weather..:) Like, mary, they say rain soon..And very cool this weekend.................Old Man Emu.. can you translate your weather into mine?:p .....Jean ..I saw the SNOW word..Hubby's aunt lives near Green Bay..I try to look at weather map where all our members live.....Bonnie

It was 48ish here this morning. I slept w/the windows in my room open. When I opened my door and came out, a blast of HEAT blasted me. My daughter was freezing when she got up so she turned on the heat -- to 73 degrees. It has been beautiful all day. I turned off the heat when she went to work, opened the windows and have enjoyed the day immensely. Last night they told us it was cooler here than in Minnesota!!! (Florida panhandle).

Atlanta weatherman..said..maybe frost/freeze for the North mountains of Ga. this weekend. will bring my inside plants in tomorrow, in case..Bonnie
