Chris and I were driving home from a weekend trip at sunset last evening when God decided to show His stuff. Here is a small representation of His handiwork. There were moments of this wonderful sunset where it looked like we were driving into a huge ocean of lava as the red sky stretched for miles. It was simply amazing.

And here is a picture of a giraffe we were feeding at a park in Virginia. I named her Molly and I am sure I will visit her again.

Why didn't you bring Molly home with you? :)
Believe me, I would have if I thought I could manage it. She was just wonderful. I miss her already.

Nice pictures Gina, but sure would like to see you with Molly.

Sorry, Randy, the only picture of me with Molly is the side of my head, not even recognizable. However, she is much nicer to look at.;) :D ;)

Beautiful photos, Gina -

Beautiful photos, Gina -

Who knew that Colorado isn't the only state with beautiful sunsets! ;) I used to live in Iowa, so I know the Midwestern sky can be breathtaking also.

Molly is adorable. Hey, I was visiting Molly's relatives at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs this past weekend. I have never seen so many giraffes in one place and felt quite sorry for them. I was not impressed with this zoo - the Denver Zoo is fabulous - I felt the CMZ did not have adequate habitat for the bigger animals.

Wow!

Is about all I can manage! Beautiful! These are the moments of our lives...............just wish I had a few of those moments...............sigh! :D Hugs. J.

Someone else who loves giraffes and sunsets!! Wow. Gina those are great! I've been almost as close to a giraffe. They are so wonderful!!

My husband sent me this one in an email. Ross downsized it so I could use it as my avatar....but I didn't have the guts......too silly. I'll try to include it here.

Molly and her mother and siblings live in a safari park in Natural Bridge, VA. They have a very large place to live and roam and really seem to like the people (Molly especially). We paid the admission (which was mostly for the drive-through "safari") but spent all our time there (about 3 hours) just standing on the giraffe feeding platform. I was able to get a communication going with Molly, coaxing her over when she would get skittish from people grabbing at her. She loved the crackers that were sold to feed her but didn't like to be rubbed too much. The little children didn't understand that and often spooked her.

I really feel like I spent hours with an old soul I knew in a previous life. Something "drew" me to the park as we were traveling the area. Sounds weird but I am glad I paid attention to the urge to visit the park.

And then the sunset later that same day. I am truly blessed. Glad you all liked the souvenirs of my day.

Glad you enjoyed the Natural Bridge Zoo, Gina. There's another one near here, the Mill Mountain Zoo, atop a mountain overlooking Roanoke and just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, that is loads of fun to visit and very scenic.

Rob,
We drove up 501 from the Raleigh area to Natural Bridge through some truly gorgeous country. I was in Natural Bridge about 10 years ago but traveled via I-81 - not quite the same as the back roads. Went right past the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was a bit rainy but the clouds hanging on the mountains were beautiful so, if it had been sunny, I would have missed that vision. I wll check out the Mill Mt. Zoo the next time I am in the area. Thanks for the info.

Gina,

Next time yawl are coming, let me know and we'll have lunch or dinner together. We were away the past several days in Northern Va/DC (Note to Mary: We actually saw the Cardinals win a game!)

Would be great to meet a vr.com friend in person.

BTW, in case I didn't mention it, I really enjoyed your pictures!

Cheers,
