Twenty-five years ago on August 20, 1981, I lost my stenotic natural mitral valve and had a St. Jude mechanical valve implanted. I'll never forget the surgeon telling me that this newer valve was not yet FDA approved, but in his opinion, it's the one he would put in his own wife. I remember signing several papers because the valve hadn't been approved yet also. I can honestly say that I didn't think twice since the doc told me this was my best shot at maybe not having to have a third OHS. God is good...and I've been clicking away for a quarter of a century!:D LINDA

Linda- wishing one of our valve pioneers a very happy 25th anniversary. Keep on going girl!!!!! The longer you go, the more hope I have!!!!

Linda,
I am so happy for you and sorry for me that I didn't wait one more year for my first surgery. Maybe if I had, I would have been offered the St. Jude and would now only be on my first valve. ;)
Thanks for being one of the guinea pigs for the St. Jude; you certainly helped pave the way for all of us who came later.
I wish for you to have as many more years on your valve as you desire.\
Happy Anniversary.

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

Congrats on your health, the success of your surgery, and having had a wise surgeon.

I'm considering a St. Jude's valve in November... if you have a few minutes to e-mail me your thoughts on Coumidin, I'd be grateful. And, if you're ever up near Richmond, stop by!

Linda,
That's great news!
You give a lot of hope to many people facing this problem.
I just had my tenth anniversary last month for my St. Jude.
I sure would like to celebrate 25 yrs as well.
Rich

CONGRATS!!! All y'all (that's my Texas boy coming out...) oldtimers clicking and ticking are an inspiration to all us newbies just starting out on a lifelong journey. We just hope that like you it is more than a three hour tour.

Best of continued luck, grace, providence. Hope that thing runs like a Timex "takes a licking and keeps on ticking".

David
