Yea, his My Space is listed on the VR website. When you actually go to the My Space page, his studio/band link is listed over on the left side in that box. His name is mentioned on the site.

I'm just so glad that he was making improvements, and Carla said she would get on as soon as possible and update us further.

Ah ha! Chris, now that Sherry has sleuthed you out and led me to your myspace page, I'm going to be praying extra hard for a good recovery for you. Because then I'm bringing my band down to kidnap you and make you our keyboardist/piano guy. I've been looking for one for about a year to play with my, rather unconventional, church band and there you are right under my nose. Indiana is just a suburb of Chicago after all! So the commute shouldn't be too bad.

Now quit lolly gagging around in bed, you are ordered to recover smoothly from here on out! The keys are calling and after listening to your clips on myspace, you have some chops that need to be heard!

Thank you! Thank you all! I am touched by all the kind words, support, and prayers for my husband. I can't find the right words to express how it feels to know that all of you care so much and the trouble that you would do to try to find out how he is! It really means so much!

After Chris was taken off the ventilator yesterday, he seemed alert, was talking, he walked, and generally did well on his breathing. Today he seemed to take a step backwards as the pain was harder to control. I am thinking that this might be somewhat normal. Today was the first day that I discovered he had a pacemaker. Is this normal? I don't know why but it sort of freaked me out. No one said that he would have one.

I really appreciate all your support. And if Chris were able, he'd be the one writing you and thanking you as he cares so much as everyone on this site! I understand why now! :)

Carla Thank you for updating. does he have a permanent pacemaker or a temporary one? alot of times they have a temp one for the first couple days. Justin was sorer (is that a word?) the 2nd day, when all the good drug from the Or are woearing off and he was more alert, if they meds they are giving him aren't helping with the pain, tell them he either needs more or something stronger, he really shouldn't be in that much pain.
I am glad he is off the vent that is a huge step, you are in my prayers, lyn www.caringbridge.org/nj/justinw
ps, after justin's surgery when he was 10 he got a pacemaker that we weren't expecting, so it does happen, but if it was a permanent one the doctors should have told you right after surgery

Chris is in my prayers!

Hope all goes well with getting off the vent!

:)

Thank you for posting Carla... .so glad to hear that Chris is ok. I'm not sure about the second day thing, but I hope they can control his pain. Tell him that we're all thinking about him and have you both in our prayers.

Take care of yourself as well.

Hugs
:p

Thanks for the update, Carla. Glad to hear that he was walking and I hope that they can control the pain so that he continues to make daily progress. I hope you too are able to get some sleep at night as I know how long and stressful your days are. Still sending prayers and best wishes your way. Re: the pacemaker- don't hesitate to ask the doctors any and all questions. If you aren't there when they visit Chris, then ask the nurses to have them call you.

I am so glad for the update!! I am also surprised the others were able to contact you, and I am so glad they did. Many of us have been waiting with baited breath to hear. It is wonderful that things are progressing better. Thoughts and prayers for continued recovery!!

Great news...
off the vent and had a walk ...
this is surely the right way forward...
I will keep praying for everything to keep going well now.

Great news indeed that Chris is walking and doing better!

Prayers, best wishes, and many hugs,

I'm glad you're doing better Chris. It seems you became somewhat of a vr.com emergency, but Detective Sherry came to the rescue!! This is really a caring group of people. Prayers and best wishes to you as you continue to recover.

I'm glad Chris is doing better. Temporary pacemakers are standard w/ valve replacement surgery. They will pull the wires before he goes home. (That's a freaky feeling!) Lyn is right, if it's a permanent one, they should (would hopefully) have told you. I'm guessing it's a temporary pacemaker because they usually don't install a permanent one at the time of surgery unless it is know prior to surgery that one will be needed.

Phyllis is right - you need to make sure you get your rest. I know it's very hard, but give it a try.

Best wishes!

Great news! You did have us worried there for awhile!

We'll be curious to know whether the pacemaker is permanent or temporary. I think I remember others saying that their pacemaker site was more painful than their "zipper".

Ditto on making sure the nurses know he is in pain. They should be managing it. I never felt much pain at all. There was a discomfort which caused many winces as I got in and out of bed, or turned over. Most of that was just uncertainty about how to move -- it's awkward when you cannot use your arms to lift yourself about. And you really are so tired. SO tired. It's just a mix of new sensations, all of which make you somewhat timid and tender in spirit at first.

Definitely a person can take 1 step forward and 2 steps back! It goes along like that for a long time with a natural diminishing over time. Be sure you are clear on anything that might be significant to watch out for and ask a nurse or doctor to be sure. This is not a time to be shy at all. You'll only be there a few more days, and asking questions will allow you to feel more comfortable with things at home.

Best wishes for continuing success!

Marguerite

Adding my prayers for Chris' continued recovery. I had some issues with pain control too and the second day was definitely the worst. But every day got a little better after that. Hope it is the same with Chris.

Seeing you all surrounded in love and light.

Love,
Liz

Glad to hear things are going better for Chris...This is kind of one time its good to hear its all downhill from here....Hopefully the pacemaker is of the Temp nature..we were all wired for it..freaky indeed to see those wires sticking out but they're there if needed. Hope they kick you out soon!

Yet another update from M2K's wife

Yet another update from M2K's wife

Well, the pain wasn't much better today. Nurses keep working at finding the right pain killer that will work for him. He is so sensitive to medications. In fact, after taking one pain killer, he reported seeing Cartoon Characters and a Lego Land in the room!? The nurse that was with him this evening seemed to be really listening to Chris, so maybe he's in good hands now.

He is having the Pacemaker put in on Monday, so I guess it's going to be a necessity.

Today was a hard day. I am looking so forward to getting back"the old" Chris....(he's turning 41 on Sunday!).

Thank you so much for your compassion. It's really nice to know that so much of you care.

Carla

Thank you for the update, Carla!

Thank you for the update, Carla!

Hang in there. It does get better. Think of the pacemaker as a smoke detector. It's good to have it just in case. And I'm grateful that they are making that determination now while you guys are still in the hospital as opposed to two to three months down the road. I do hope they get the pain under control soon. P.S. We have had the demon experiences with meds, too! No fun at all. WE are keeping y'all in our prayers. Many hugs. Janet and Katie

Carla,

Thanks so much for the update. Sorry to hear that Chris is still having quite a lot of pain. Hopefully they will be able to sort out the right medication soon so that he can rest more comfortably. You are both in my thoughts - Jeanne
