Musician2K is out of surgery.....

This is Merrill , I am the brother in law of
Chris , he had sent me your email addy b4 he went
in for the heart valve replacement surgery. His
surgery was today and although it took a bit longer
than what they had hoped it went really well. Except
for the fact that he had a bad, really bad reaction to
a drug and both lungs filled up with fluid. So as of
5pm Indiana time, he is on a ventilator and heavily
sedated. The early indication is he will be on a
ventilator for 2 days, barring any other
complications. So, I ask that you keep your thoughts
and prayers for Chris and my sister Carla for these
next few critical days. I will update more on his
situation when I know more. Thank you and God Bless!

I wanted to attempt to update everyone on the forum about my husband. Like my brother Merrill said, the surgery went fine, but as soon as they were going to take him off the bypass they gave him a drug called AMIODARONE. Apparently, he went into shock--an allergic reaction?--as his blood pressure went away and they put him on the bypass again. All of this has caused him to retain fluid and he is still on the ventilator. The surgeon said that Chris aged him by ten years and that he has never seen this happen before in his life. I have had a rough day and night. I am trying to be stong. It's hard. Chris means the world to me! I also thank all of you for everything. You all have been such a big support to Chris prior to surgery and to me now as well. It's nice to know that we are not alone. Please continue to pray for Chris.

Oh what a chock . What in the world were they doing putting him on that drug right after surgery? Weeks after my surgery they tried to convert my back to sinus rythm with aggressive infusion of AMIODARONE after several episodes of electrical cardioversion that didn't last. Well they did'nt put me back into sinus rythm but they managed to pass me out for a moment (for how long I don't know but I heard the nurses mumbling something about a heart rate of 5/min when the changed shifts).
