Hello and welcome to the forum.

Give our Aussie members some time to check in and see your post and perhaps they'll have some info to share.

Until then, welcome. :)

Hi there Butterfly...

....WELCOME !

I figured if I answer you here other new or lurking Aussies may be helped as well :D

One of my first searches for a surgeon took me to the Sydney Cardio Thorasic Surgeons group. I decided to boldly contact them and within 12 hours got a reply from a Cardio-Thorasic surgeon...I was very impressed...He asked me to send him my scans etc which I did. He kindly checked them over and reported back to me in a couple of days that I would be well advised to get my aneurysm and BAV fixed fairly soon and that he would be happy to fix it for me or he could recommend a local surgeon for me. This most generous surgeons' name is Dr Nick Hendel. I sent a detailed E-mail to him through the "Sydney Cardio Thorasic Surgeons" @ http://www.scts.com.au/

I chose to have my OP here in Perth where I live but if we didnt have a suitable private hospital and excellent surgeons here I would have travelled to Sydney to have the OP. Please feel free to ask me as many questions as you want to. If I lived in Sydney or close to it I would certainly have taken Mr Hendel up on his offer.

Welcome Butterfly.

I see Aussigal has beaten me to the welcome.

My surgery was done in Melbourne so I am only familiar with Melbourne
surgeons and hospitals.

I also responded to your message.

Keep us updated on your progress and ask me any questions you want on the forum or PM me. :)

Hi there,

I had AVR at Epworth in Melbourne. It truly is a first class hospital.
While they do have the DaVinci Robot and I believe may use it for Mitral Valve replacement, I am not sure if they use it for AVR.
Please contact me via Private message if you need more information. I am still in contact with my surgeon who is trained in the use of da Vinci so I can link you in with people who know these things if it would help.
Stay cool and use this list to check out what you need to do. It is an absolute goldmine of information and support.
Welcome
Greg
