Exodus 15:2 - The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. He is my god, and i will praise him, my father's God and I will exalt him.

Dear mntbiker... You were a fierce competitor but i think that i beat you. With the assistance of my son i have now posted about ten hours after I was out of the operating room...A Medtronics Aortic Porcine Valve was installed and I'm doing great!!! THANK YOU.

Deuteronomy 10:21 - He is your praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes.

(His son Drake for Robert, his actual words, however he asked me to throw the verses in seeing as how he couldn't remember them, very foggy memory but MNTBIKER you were an inspiration to him and we appriciate the unknown challenge that you presented him with!! It's great for him as he's a competitive spirit. Keep him in your prayers and we're praying for yall too. God Bless!)

Way to Go!

Way to Go!

Congrats! Another inspiration, exactly what I needed. So glad you came through okay.

Fantastic news Robert - well done on a successful surgery!! - my only concern now is that with you guys doing such a fabulous job of posting in the hours AFTER surgery that by the time I get mine done, I will need to actually post DURING the surgery to beat the existing record. Anyone know if they allow laptops in the operating theatre??  :p :p :D

They are raising that bar, kind of high, aren't they? Hugs. J.

Robert.............

Robert.............

what wonderful news!!! And amazing, too. You guys keep this up, and newbies will be thinking they can go back to work one week after surgery. :D Prayers for a continued smooth recovery. Hugs. J.

Great news!

Great news!

How great is that? Already posted here too:) Thanks for giving people in the waiting room confidence to get through the surgery:D Take it easy and keep in touch here. It really does help all!

Robert, you are incredible! Adam will not even try to beat your record, but I will post for him and I hope he does as well as you seem to be doing. I am so glad I saw this before we took off this morning. A bright spot in our day- keep getting better!

I was thinking just that, Aussie!! You'd better push your date up, hunh?? :p

I think his son said it perfectly..... that he felt inspiration and a challenge and that helped to get him through......testament to the beauty of this forum in that we speak to each other in unexpected ways!

Great job, Robert! Now focus on recovery and get yourself home in record time, too!!

:) Marguerite

Robert, wishing you a speedy recovery with no bumps in the road.

There's nothing like a challenge...

There's nothing like a challenge...

...to get one's competitive juices flowing.

Thrilled to know that you're doing so well post-op. Yes, the bar has been raised, the standards set and we have this wonderful family at VR to thank. You've really inspired all of us, and I'm sure given great confidence and encouragement to those waiting for their procedures.

However, while competition can be very inspiring (and I'm a Type A who thrives on it), just make sure you heal prudently. You've heard the mantra: Breathe, walk, sleep. You'll enjoy great dividends if you heal properly.

I'm exactly one month post-op and no one (except those who knew about my OHS) can even tell that I've had anything done. It's really incredible.

Wishing you a really wonderful recovery. You are certainly on your way.

:D :D :D :D :D
This post has thrilled me! And we have the same valve!

Talk to you soon Robert, now set records doing laps around the nurses!!;)
Especially the attractive Nurses!

Robert,
I'm happy to know you were coherent and able to send a message only 10 hours after surgery. I wish you an uncomplicated recovery and a fast trip home.:) :) :)
For those of you still in the waiting room, don't be disappointed if you can't repeat the same feat. A large part of post-surgery coherence has less to do with the surgery and more about the amount and duration of anesthesia administered.
In my case, I was told before surgery that they would keep me "out of it" until the day following surgery. Each surgeon, and hospital, have their own criteria for how soon they decide to wean a patient from the ventilator.
It doesn't matter whether you're the rabbit or hare following replacement, just that you finish the race.;)

Robert,
Congratulations & welcome to this side of the mountain! I thank goodness I don't have to compete with your 10 hour posting time, my goodness! Best wishes to you on a speedy recovery.

Doug

Robert,
Great that your doing so will!!! I know with my AVR if not for God I would not have had a fast recovery. I will rejoyce with you my brother in Christ. And pray your recovery go is fast and smooth.

13I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me Philippians 4:13 (King James Version)

Shoot -- I was still under at 10 hours post op, in fact, I didn't wake up to the wonderful TUBE, until about 12 hours post op. I dusted off my laptop and posted the next day, a feat I was sure would hold for a long time. Ha .... a lot I know.

Robert, wow! You beat the famous mtnbiker. Could it be there's someone spunkyer than David?. Wishing you all the best. God bless.

For everyone

For everyone

This thread has made me smile. I sure hope there isn't a competition for who's better first, or I'm at the end of the pack.

Listen to the mantra: eat, sleep, walk. Don't push too hard. Believe me you don't want to have to go back to the hospital.

Barbara

WAIT!!! How did you guys get to post? I was locked in the post surgery intensive care unit for 24 hours after surgery! My own nurse sat at the foot of my bed and believe me a lap top was not gonna be allowed in! Did you guys not to to a unit like this?
Man! Truely you guys are the VR.com studs!
