    Week Old Hematoma

Interesting replies. I checked my INR two days prior to the Dr. visit and it was 2.8. The NP thought I needed to take a couple of days off Coumadin but wanted to confirm with the PCP. My PCP agreed (said it would continue to get bigger if I stayed on Coumadin) but called the cardio first to...

    Week Old Hematoma

Last Sunday I slipped on a rug and slammed my butt into the sharp edge of the kitchen counter before falling to the floor. It didn't really hurt too much at the time, but by the next morning I had a large hematoma that became more painful throughout the day, so decided to play it safe and see...

Has valve replacement affected your occupation?

Perhaps the discrepancy is due to more of the older patients past retirement age choosing tissue valves vs. younger patients still in the workforce being more likely to get mechanical valves.

    Buncle is Home

Buncle is out of the hospital and at home recovering. He said in his email that he is having wi-fi problems but will post soon. Apparently he has some stories to tell. He said he had two surgeries on the same day and almost bought the farm , but is doing better now and going to make it...

Can Depression Still Be a Problem after 1 1/2 years post OHS?

Chris, I have to keep this reply short because I'm short on time at the moment. I agree with Wise that leaving this site isn't a good idea. There is some good advice in this thread along with some replies that, while well intended, probably were not written by people who have experienced the...

    Neurocardiology & Overcoming Depression

Interesting. I googled a bit more based on your input and discovered more to explore. Here's a definition that sounds like the chemical you mentioned: creatine kinase: An enzyme produced by skeletal tissue and heart muscle. One form, creatine kinase-MB, is produced only by the heart. The...

    Neurocardiology & Overcoming Depression

I am seeking to better understand WHY depression occurs after changes to the heart. The pump being used during OHS probably does account for some of it, but that doesn’t explain depression after heart attacks and bypasses. I’ve been googling and have come across some interesting sites. Here...

    Problems After March 27th Surgery

Shari, a couple of things with your situation caught my attention. First, I've read over your old posts and still don't really understand your medical issues. More importantly, I don't think you understand them. In my opinion, it is extremely important to understand exactly what your...

What to say to a Terminal Cancer Patient?

Yes, I agree with keep it simple. Actions probably speak louder than words in a situation like this, and the action of sending a simple "thinking of you" card seems appropriate.
